3MUGSINAMUGSHOT
Here are three 'gents' who most certainly didn't have 'it' - though at the time the photo was taken, I feel sure they were about to get it !lol lol lol
Man In a Suitcase
Not from the 'Golden Era' I'll admit, but Mr Bradford certainly had something. Was it 'it' ? I think it was, and no-one could smoke a cigarette like he did !
As old as you feel / think
I'm 52 (going on 25!) I really believe that if you tell yourself you're 'old' then you'll begin to feel old. Sure, time takes its toll and things you could do at 20 you either can't do at all or can't do as easily but there are things you can do to slow the process...
Hey raindog !
The hat in your avatar looks cool - what is it ? You have the same hat size as me ! ( or should that be "I have the same hat size as you" ? ) whatever ..... Here in Birmingham there isn't one store that sells mens hats - not of any quality or recognised make anyway. I'll be in...
NICE ONE !!
I bought a copy of 'The Killing' - excellent, I enjoyed it a lot. I hadn't seen this film before and probably wouldn't have heard of it but for 'The Lounge' so thanks to you all. Actually, a list of suggestions for 'must see' films of this sort/genre would be much appreciated. I...
RiFiFi
Yes indeed ! Definately a 'must see' - the DVD has 67 mins of special features including an interview with director Jules Dassin. If you don't have a copy then put it on your shopping list
That experience totally outweighs and eradicates any negative response you may have had that day, or indeed that month!! I think there are far more people who appreciate seeing someone well dressed these days than we imagine. Its just that I guess most of them wouldn't come right out and say...
Sincerely
My condolences to you both - concentrate only on the positives, which are that she enjoyed a good span of life - she was loved and cared for - ( not all dogs are ) and she KNEW she was loved ( dogs do ) - you have wonderful memories and photographs. When the ache subsides I hope you...
You're correct as far as I'm concerned - waistcoats ( well I'm English !!!![huh] ) definately look better when they fit snugly. If I try and call to mind how a waistcoat should look, I always think of James Caan in the first 'Godfather' film ( Sonny Corleone )
Good News !
I am happy to hear that Duke is back home and making progress. Here's a pin-up for him. ( if he likes German girls, that is ! lol )
Glad all seems to be working out
Best wishes
Colin
A little wiser now !
So felt hats don't spring back into their original shape then ? They will stay in whatever way you shape them? I imagined that say, the brim at the back is usually upturned and that if you bent/folded it down, then it would spring back into its original upturned position...
Query from Know-Nought
I have never worn hats and know next to nothing about them ( but that may change soon as self consciousness decreases and self confidence increases :) ) so can you explain the quote ? I thought a hat was a hat and couldn't be altered in any way, except maybe by a...
Ghos7a55assin,
How nice to see someone as young as yourself taking a stand and dressing as you do - totally out of step with your peer group. I would imagine that in these days it is even more of a big step to take since most guys your age feel compelled to wear whatever happens to be 'in'...
Spot on Sir !
My Dear Mr Bargepole
Once again, I feel it my duty as a fellow ENGLISHMAN :) to congratulate you :eusa_clap on the total accuracy with which you have described that loathsome creature the 'Brit' ( Rattus Benefiticus ) You omitted to mention the other stock utterance used by...
THANKYOU !!! Not for the 'go buy a hat' suggestion ( though that does appeal !! ) but for that marvelous fantasy scenario involving a bullwhip and your PERFECT description of a typical example of mainstream British youth. Priceless !lol lol lol
Colin
Yes, and what a pity this is so ! I don't wear hats at all but A) I wish I had the courage to and B) I really wish that hat wearing for men would come 'back into fashion' Actually, I use that term reluctantly because I can't agree more with that oft-used quote "fashion is fleeting but style...
I seem to remember something similar here in Britain a while back ...... some self opinionated 'person' ( no cuss words on the site;) ) in what might be termed an 'upmarket area' had complained that someone living nearby had had the temerity to hang washing out, which ,in her opinion, was...
Nice !
"Goodnight John Boy"......" "Goodnight Mary Ellen"....... "Goodnight Grandpa" ..... etc etc etc lol
Joking apart, it brings back memories of my fifties childhood. Nice pics.
