Yes, it does look like Aeros 'Hercules' jacket doesn't it ? I wonder if the jacket is a Hercules ? Just an idea, I reckon if you sent some detailed pics to the people at Aero in Scotland they might be able to identify it for you considering how many different vintage jackets of this type they...
What Price Now ??
Here's a great old ad for Mallory hats I found by Googling the name. Anyone have any of the hats in the ad ? And does anyone have or know anything of the Mallory 'Eagle'
Forgive me for asking lots of what you all must regard as stupid questions but in my defense I admit to being a real 1st grader where hats are concerned !
To my latest question then,,, I know the attached photo (not my hat BTW) is of what is referred to as a 'stingy brim' Is the brim...
:offtopic: I just had a wierd vision of Tony Blair and George Bush walking along a deserted beach together each wearing this suit !! In different colours of course - wouldn't want them to look like twins !! Now..... who gets the purple one ??lol lol lol
Keep this under your hat !
I just spent THIRTY % of my monthly net income on an Aero ! If 'she who must be obeyed' finds out how much it cost:rage: then it'll be one of those 'frypan over the head whilst I'm asleep' incidents for sure lol lol lol
THANK YOU !!
You are correct NB, I just found his site and the hats look stunning. I like the 'untouchable' (aptly named!) it's US$360 but I guess that isn't excessive for a custom made beaver hat - or is it? This would be my first fedora and maybe my only one ( isn't that what you all said...
Hi ND - it's the heavy horsehide in Aeros standard Brown. The colour isn't too accurate in my pics so here attached is the pic from Mark Moyes Aero website and the colour is pretty accurate in this pic. There is a reddish tone to it despite it being Brown - looks really rich, I like it a lot...
Yes, I requested an interior pocket same as that found on the USN G1 jacket.
Handy for keeping cash / wallet etc secure. Not that i have any cash left now !!!lol lol
Here am de pics !
As promised, here are some pics in which I totally fail to do the jacket justice, but then I do have an aversion to being photographed and any 'posed' photo of me looks totally unnatural. Anyway .........[huh]

I know that except for brim width, one fedora looks much like any other in a photograph and that colours can be notoriously difficult to reproduce accurately but does anyone have any idea what the hat in my current avatar might be ? I could ask Mr Costner but I don't have his telephone No. lol...
And so it should !! I've always thought that the peaked lapel looks way better than ordinary (notched?) lapels, especially on a suit. A S/B tweed 'sports' jacket is a pretty ordinary looking garment generally, but if it has a good tailored fit and has peaked lapels then it becomes something...
Does anyone here ever wear one of these caps ? I see them called different names - Gatsby, Newsboy, Eight Quarter etc. In period films, it looks like they were primarily the headwear of 'working class' people ( which is what I regard myself as since I work for a living !!! )
I think maybe I...
Well I can tell you that even in the coldest of weather, I won't be needing any layering ( even if the fit allowed any ! ) You don't mention exactly where you live but Aero will, if requested, make this jacket in the lighter hides and, with a normal cotton lining such as in the A2, I don't think...
That's weird ! I just had that DVD delivered today from Play.com and was planning to watch it this evening. Saw it mentioned in the lounge for its 'Golden Era' clothes etc and ordered it for that reason. Must look out for the jacket !!
It's good, I'll agree. Joe Ely, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Butch Hancock. See, good taste does exist on this side of the pond !!lol
By the way, did you ever see Dallas from a DC9 at night ?
Aero Long Half Belt Arrival
Well, I just received the long half belt I ordered through Mark Moye and to say I am totally blown away by it would be an understatement !
My Aero A2 is a 42 and fits me just right and I am a 42 chest, but .....
I decided to go for a 40 to get a trimmer 30s/40s...
As a prospective fedora wearer (thanks to this great site) I have some questions. Firstly, regarding hat material, I was looking on the Akubra site and they say that their hats are made from pure rabbit fur as it is tough and resiliant. I like the look of the Akubra fedora so that is a...
Fortino, is that YOU in the photo ?? If so, then you were born to wear a fedora. That pic looks like it came straight from someones 1940s photo album - very cool - very smart !:eusa_clap
Memories
'Suedehead' OMG ! I'd almost forgotten that name - wasn't the outfit one of black or navy Crombie overcoat, 'two-tone' suit/trousers, heavy brogues or loafers, braces (suspenders), Ben Sherman shirt. Weren't red socks the order of the day too ?lol
