    Show us what you've made!

Speaking of modeling Xmas outfits...Goldwyn, this may not be the appropriate thread, but is there any way you could post a full-sized version of your new avatar? I'm dying to see your dress and tree in more detail...

    Show us your hair do's....

Lovely as always...and thanks for the glimpse of Nina's Hair Parlour in the background! For the hair-porn benefit of those of us across the pond, how would you describe Nina's experience?

    Cold Cream- Brands and advice!

I've tried the OCM for the past few days and I really like it! I used the basic olive oil/castor oil mix as recommended in most online articles. They often suggest blending 25% EVOO to 75% castor oil if your skin is oily, the reverse if it's dry--since mine is kinda combo I just went 50-50...

Heating up your Hot Sticks So I just got a set at Sally's and yippee do they work well! One question though--the little red indicator, which is supposed to turn black when the sticks are at optimal heat, doesn't seem to do so. I mean, I had the darn thing on for about 10-15 minutes, and while...

What is your favorite red lipstick brand/shade?

Off-topic... ...but GGGeisha, I've just gotta say that I've been extremely impressed by your expertise in and dedication to matters of natural and ethical health. I'm amazed you're only 17!!! Most gals your age don't have a clue...heck, I've got nearly two decades on you and I barely do...

    "Lazy" Vintage Hair Ideas

Ditto! But I had no idea they've been around since the sixties...in fact, I didn't even know these gadgets existed until just a couple of months ago when I spotted one while looking for a new curling iron. I've never been able to master proper blow-drying-with-a-brush technique--I'm too much...

What is your favorite red lipstick brand/shade?

These are a few of my favorite reds Nothing terribly exotic here--I'm mostly a drugstore cowgirl when it comes to cosmetics... Fave full-on lippies include: Revlon Super Lustrous in Scarlet Velvet. Also like their more subtle Bed of Roses. L'oreal Endless in Crimson Joy (though I'm...

To wax or not to wax ????

You're lucky it's light...some of my peach fuzz is pretty dark. But it whisks right off with the mini-trim attachment on my Remington Trim & Shape Beauty Kit.

    Mineral Make-UP

Another PF Mineral Wear convert here. I was quite pleased with the L'oreal Bare Naturale for a few months, but then the pigments in it started to go kinda orangey on me--thus it was time for an upgrade to the talc-free zone. I have the loose and the pressed versions and they both work well...

Check out these finger waves--on a guy!!! [Speaking of NY periodicals, check out this NY Times slideshow on Poiret-inspired fashion...the photos have a certain Beaton-esque quality to me.]

    Rita's Glamour

Robert Osborne gave an interesting bit of trivia in his intro...apparently Lauren Bacall was slated to be the Harper's Bazaar girl, but those plans were thwarted when she got her contract from Warner Bros. Nice to see they gave bit speaking parts early on in the flick to Jinx Falkenberg and...

Comments You Get When You Dress Vintage

Perhaps they were referring to Under the Cherry Moon, which I've never seen but which I believe was set in the '30s or '40s?

What Makes You Choose One Decade Over Another?

Rest assured, yer not the only one!!! I'll forever be a '60s gal first and foremost--its music, pop culture, and style just suit my temperament best somehow. I, too, come by the obsession largely through the music-mania angle--garage rock and '60s pop are my all-time favorite forms of rock &...

    Well lookie here.

I have to admit I was skeptical about having to check two separate sections, but I like the new format very much--it does make searching a breeze. However, given this area's topic, shouldn't *this* section be dubbed the Powder Room, while the clothing/shoes/etc. stuff be called something...

    Cold Cream- Brands and advice!

Oh yeah, cold cream is a staple prop in many movies of a certain age (or depicting that certain age). Here are a few recent sightings I've had: Kitty Foyle: When a gentleman caller visits Kitty, her roommates hide in the bathroom and one of them slathers CC all over. She emerges later...
