Buying hat blocks--what does one need to know?

I'm looking at investing in an inexpensive hat block, mainly for refreshing hats, and the odd play with cheap and cheerful stuff I may pick up. There don't seem to be many used ones in my huge size on UK ebay, and the vintage ones on the US site involve heavy shipping cost and customs fees...

Alan - I'm sure you're only posting these beauties to make me envious and my bank manager nervous ;) ----------- Another trip with the recently acquired Vanzina: It's nice quality (better than any current production hat I've handled), but the felt isn't quite up to Borsalinos of roughly the...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

I think 2 1/2" is probably my optimum brim width, but I do like a bit of variety, and wouldn't give up the stingies or wider brims :) Thanks Alan

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

TJones - that inner smile is almost beatific ;) Nice OR :) Alan - lovely looking Bantam. 1Mach1 - the Olive works well with the Walnut ------- Panizza President today: I like it a lot - the felt is like clay, and if it had 1/2" more brim it would probably be a real favourite.
