Arrived today this "beater" Stetson Open Road 4X. "Stetson" pin on ribbon bow and diamond-pattern white satin liner (1970's?). A few tiny moth bites and well smudged, stained, and soiled, otherwise felt has very nice texture, firm yet supple, fine suede-like finish. Sweatband excellent, liner...
Dinerman, it's a shame to have some hothead jump you with kneejerk negative feedback instead of contacting you with any issues first. I too value my 100% positive feedback and would do most anything within reason to settle a dispute. Like randooch says, maybe the cretin would consider return and...
In my experience, vintage Resistol hats are a very good value in general as they often sell for less than similar Stetsons. The market rightly values Stetson's long, rich history among American hat makers. Resistol San Antonios and similar Open Road clones often sell for far less than their...
davers, this was for you too from Resistol Roundup, congrats on capturing a KF!
By the way, all Resistol Kitten Finish fedoras that I have seen (as well as their Churchill cousins) feature Cavanagh type edges, this alone well worth the price of admission in this range. KF felt is typically fine...
Benzadmiral, congrats on the nice KF Resi'! Looks like mid to late 50's, same details and box as several of mine. By the way, all Resistol Kitten Finish fedoras that I have seen (as well as their Churchill cousins) feature Cavanagh type edges, this alone well worth the price of admission in this...
Sounds about right from what I've seen, the oilskin liner protectors are 50's and earlier, the clear plastic came in around 1960's. I think the rectangular size tag like mine is 60's and the round-keyhole shaped ones are 50's, gtdean48 may confirm. Fun research!
JTopenroad, looks like no finer place to have your OR serviced!
TomS, you sure got a nice diamond crease in that one, looks like these 3xs are very similar vintage. Also of interest this hat came from the famous Denver Dry Goods Co., a historic landmark and well known stockman's store and...
Also of interest this hat came from the famous Denver Dry Goods Co., a historic landmark and well known stockman's store and catalog since the late 1800's.
thanks tom and jared, this would be early to mid sixties then with this logo and clear plastic over embroidered picture liner? (I will probably end up selling it because it is really too small at 7 LO, I need 7 1/8 LO and I hate to stretch this clean a vintage hat. Anybody wanna trade?)
Found myself buying outside my (usual Resistol) brand this week, my dad says "that's alright just don't mate outside your species."
Stetson Open Road 3X Silverbelly, 2 3/4" brim, 5 3/4" crown open, 4 1/2" as creased, brown leather sweat with vertical rectangular logo, white satin liner with...

Stetson Open Road 3X Silverbelly (1950's?) Here it is atop my San Antonios:
Just arrived, listed as "Stetson Derby Hat" due to open crown, no mention of Open Road stamped on sweatband. Under $25! Silverbelly 3X with embroidered picture liner.
102F or so today, wind chill over 105, lawn work lasted about 11 minutes in the shade of my old Resistol San Antonio, then off for sushi and cold beer!
Hope everyone is staying cool, cheers! KC
thanks guys, they are great medium wide brim hats for all but the hottest days.
gdc, 7 - 7 1/8 LO for me please.
DougC, my Resistol Dalworth (lower left in photos) 3X Silverbelly in 7 1/8 is available. 2 3/4" brim crown 5 1/2" slightly roomier (slightly less taper) crown than San Antonio...
Late 1940's - early 1950's (?) Resistol San Antonio Silver Belly, brim 2 3/4", crown 5 1/2" open, 4 1/4" as creased.
before: (note tan color compared to Silver Belly 3X and Palamino Beaver 35 in background)
after: Gave it my quick teardrop bash with a wet towel and wore it for yard work today...
