    Castro Steps Aside

For those of you interested in events in Cuba, things are shifting. Castro's health has forced him to step aside, and only days after GWB hinted at a "plan" while in Miami. Stay tuned. Ailing Castro steps aside

Need Some Screen Cap Know How

I am both impatient and techincally inept. I can't take decent digital pictures to save my life and find it time consuming and frustrating saving them onto my computer then putting them in photobucket and all that. I would love to be able to get some screen shots of a few of my dvds though, but...

Wanted - Bombay Bowler Pith Helmet

That helmet seems a little large. This image looks like one of Quigley Brown's manipulations.

    Pomade

It seems somewhat unlikely that the makers of Royal Crown would feel obliged to design or redesign their label according to the reigning monarch of another country.

    Sir Oswald Mosley ...

I meant the tiny, badly pixilated video as posted not the quality of the original footage. And yes, it is heartening, though he should have been soundly pummeled a quarter century earlier and long out of business by 1962. Eric Blair/George Orwell watched Mosely turn a crowd around from...

    Great Voices

Orson Welles. Jean Arthur had peculiar diction - I don't know if that counts. Carol Lombard too. I always liked Kathleen Turner's voice.

    MY FAVORITE HAT

I was just flipping thorugh some stuff trying to figure it out. It looks like very late 19th to early 20th C, possibly as late as the 20s, but the ribbon is thin compared to some that I'm seeing in a similar style. The embossed image of the store on the band should help date it.

    Now the waiting

I think that 1920s is inaccurate. Looks more like 1960s.

Looking at that suit in this weather is making me wilt. It's nice though.

1930s panama on Ebay went to...

I don't have 200 beans, but I was watching that sale with interest because it was one fine looking hat, even in the rather poor photographs that were posted. Perhaps Marc can persuade the buyer to post some nicer pics for the documentary sticky.

    Who's with me?

The truly great documentary, Artie Shaw: Time Is All You've Got, is not available on DVD, so lobbying for that to be released would be a start. (Brigit Berman, who direccted, also made an excellent documentary about Bix Beiderbecke which was available on the Playboy Jazz label.) The Artie...

That was a nice suit. I'd still like to see one like this: Clark Gable's "It Happened One Night" Suit
