Wearing my Akubra Balmoral (woven Hemp) as it's a hot wind 'n a little warm today and I'm busy working outside again.
Well I was working for 10mins at least making a new place for my next new hat to rest upon and keep it's size. I make em my shape/size obviously so things stay just perfect...
Well this is my newest hat, your guess is as good as mine as to what it is lol, wife got it and it's going under the Christmas tree dang it, I'm not good at waiting.
Well if I could afford both lids there would be my excuse for getting both, lol. They are both similar yet different hats, both good quality and everyday usable hats.
Blue Mountains is center crease and the Cattleman a tear drop, I'd go hot weather work hat the Cattleman Bran colour and then...
That's a colour I'm yet to get a Akubra in, not that I don't like the colour just I'm not sure it likes me lol.
Edit: Just had a look at the Blue Mountains model in the bluegrass, nice looking lid. If you can't make a choice between the 2 maybe you'll just have to get both eventually hehehe.
The Hattery has been around forever, I lived up in the Blue Mountains for a while when I was young as a kid. Last time I was up that way would be 17 years or so maybe and I reckon the Hattery was about back then.
As to Bran getting dirty...nah and you can always clean them. My oldest work hat...
Nice lid and one of my fav Akubra's for under the sun, Akubra's bran is a really good light colour. I was going to say that model should be of avail anywhere that sell's Akubra's pretty much. I've never had an issue with Hats by the Hundred myself but I've only bought a couple of things from...
No idea sorry, I wonder why they aren't shipping OS. There are lots of places that are shipping OS so I have no idea why, which hat 'n colour were you looking at. Some colours/styles are custom so you may only be able to get it through the stores with stock.
As much as I love a good felt and it does protect you best, in the real hot days I reach for the canvas/linen or hemp woven types of hats. That's why I wonder about in this old lid to maybe go Commando for a change.
That would be better in a different more appropriate thread, simply because it's about me and my persona and nothing related to hats lol. Better for a who am I thread or intro kinda place than here but who likes talking about themselves anyways lol, I'm here for the lids. I'm just a friendly...
Just an Akubra Stylemaster in Acorn-Fawn which I'm sure most of us are familiar with and my own bling as always. Little side bit of info on the bling, most of the feathers in my hats come from rescued Raptors (Birds of Prey).
These are from a Barn Owl, well two in fact as each feather...
I enjoyed retirement until you get bored and then the challenge is in finding things that interest you, keep you busy and alive. 3+ decades since I stopped working and retired and to be honest I really miss the normal work gig lol. Mind you, long as you find something interesting and learn...
I think seeing as I like liners I'll replace it but, I think I'll remove the plastic/vinyl shield so it's just the material only. It's most likely the plastic that makes it worse and stops that top area from breathing. I'ts not like I use pomade's or other creams and I've got full head of hair...
I just spoke with someone and it seems' it's not something Akubra does or makes a habit of. I guess they don't want their badge-branded gear floating onto other brand hats maybe which is understandable.
Akubra themselves don't do the repairs it seems it's the hat stores own repair person/s do...
I thought as much but it's better to ask than assume lol.
I know for certain they offer services in Australia for repairs and that they do replace brim trims and inner leather sweatbands etc. Which band or type interested you most or did you just mean in general? If it's hard to find out over...
Just for clarification do you mean Headband or Hatband (inner sweatband/outer dress-band)?
I don't know if they sell them but they do offer refurb/repair services at a few locations and one would think a lost/broken sweatband or hatband would be repaired or replaced at such a service. Could...
Similar thoughts here, I always thought it wasn't a "proper" or quality hat unless it had that luxurious liner. It seemed to be how to define a good hat from cheap I had thought. Though I know this isn't true per say these days as several Akubra's come without linings.
I'm not a fan of ball...
Just wondering peoples thoughts on hat linings?
I'm torn personally. While I love the look of them and prefer to have one that not, I do find I sweat more when wearing a hat with one fitted.
I've an old hat I just refurb'd and shrunk down to size (lost a huge amount of weight) the liner...
