    Thanksgiving Dinner

The cigar will be my excuse for getting away from those nutty people for a while.;) Same for the nap. Then another cigar after the nap. Weather is supposed to be near 70 on Thursday.

Instruments - what do you play?

Played piano for several years and guitar for 20. Doesn't everybody in NAshville play the guitar? It seems like it sometimes. Anyway after 20 years on the guitar I had to give it up. The arthritis set in my hands after breaking my fingers quite a few times racing motorcycles. My skills...

    Bring back Sunday dinner

We would go over to my great grandmother's house every Sunday, early afternoon. She was over 90 at the time, but still could make some of the best fried chicken going. That and mashed taters, green beans, cornbread and rolls, broccoli and several pies. There was a large contingent back...

    Thanksgiving Dinner

We're going to my mother in law's house. But I'm taking the bird myself. Having fried turkey this year for the first time, so we shall see how that goes. Not sure what else she will make, likely the standard fare. I will have my share of libations and a couple of smaller cigars, before the...

    French cuff shirts

Sierra Trading Post has some good prices on cufflinks right now. http://www.sierratradingpost.com/p/8085,58139_Tateossian-Rhodium-Cats-Eye-Ribbed-Cufflinks-Square.html I have also noticed this is one of the things easily found at antique stores and often garage sales. So many men used to...

    Guayabera shirts

In the summer about all I wear is silk camp style shirts and guayaberras. I need more, now that I think about it. They are very comfortable. In the summer I hate fabrics which fit too tightly, I want loose and flowing.

    Ancestral Golden Era Jobs

My paternal great grandfather was a soldier in the Spanish American War. He was injured and released from the military in San Fransisco. He decided to walk back home to Tennessee. Spent the next year or more doing so. He did take a few train rides along the way. He married a full blooded...

When it rains, it pours! B-25 ride anyone?

They would take a beating. But, they were a difficult plane to fly. During the war the training was done inn Tampa. The old saying among the pilots was 'one a day in Tampa Bay'. A lot of them were ditched. They took off and landed awkwardly and never flew with a level attitude properly. To...

    Humidor Question...

Beetles don't hatch till your cigars get to 73 to 75 degrees and over 70% humidity. Its the temp though that hatches beetles. It is also useless to put cigars in a freezer to kill beetles unless you have a restaurant quality freezer or access to one. Most home freezers dont come anywhere...

Panama Bob, and visiting Cigar Weekly

It's an excellent source of information for anyone interested in the complex world of cigars. Cigars are as much an art as wines.

    Color photos Airplanes 1940-1941

Yes. I have flown them. Have quite a few hours in some very very high hour 3's. They still are used to haul cargo. The 3's and Beech 18's are being converted to turboprops. It says a lot, that these old planes are more thought of as conversions than more modern planes. By the way, I am...

    The Family Personal Aircraft

Flying into Oshkosh is one of the greatest thrills ever. Controllers are so busy they say, dont talk back to us, just wave your wings in acknowledgement. We used to camp at Fond U Lac, where all the warbirds stayed, sleeping right off the runway. Every morning you could hear the giant...

    Favorite Summer Drink

Summer is all about.......... .. the deck. RedPop, dont get any deck envy now. Grilling, lounging and nice summer drinks and Buena Vista Social Club or some other Cuban jazz playing on the stereo. I have pot after pot of fresh mints of all types growing on the deck as well. Makes for great...

Out of the Humidor: Weekly Cigar Corner: Current Discussion: General Smoking 01/26/07

I love the Excallibur. Mainly I love any real cameroon wrapped cigar, as it is my favorite wrapper, but I find the ex very good. The rest of the hoyo line is pretty good and usually reasonably priced, but there are cigars to be had just as good for less money.

How much to register your car?

My cars are $23 a year to register. No smog check, no inspection, no vehicle property tax. It's one of the many reasons I moved back to Tennessee from DC.

    How dry is your county?

There are still plenty of dry counties and towns here in Tennessee. That's where all of our whiskey and shine is made 'course.;)

I can' stand to go out without a watch on. I have several watches, all with hands, no digitals. Some are battery, some autos and some windup old watches. I really like old style watches and aviator watches. I have noticed most teenagers and 20 somethings dont wear watches, but I have also...
