It is a curious conundrum, is it not? It really comes down to the eye of the beholder and whether we give that "beholder" any credence. I look around me sometimes and see the way that average, normal people dress and I wonder, "what are they thinking!?" So if I happen to be wearing something...
Hey! You look like Humphrey Bogart from Casablanca!! (LOL)
Really, nice looking lid on ya! I really think fedoras are becoming much
more acceptable and welcome. Let's face it, a nice fedora looks great
and a lot of people envy the panache of the wearer!

Woodfluter, your avatar looks very much like a photo of famed French resistance fighter Jean Moulin!
Was it intended that way? Either way, well done!

Yes!
The hat is essentially just a big inverted felt bowl. It is shaped with steam to soften the felt and then "bashed" by hand. You can take it to any hat shop and have it done professionally, but most people here just steam it up over the tea pot and do it themselves.

bobalooba, if the ? is directed to me, those are vintage Ray Ban Round lens sunglasses always available on eBay it seems. They can get kind of pricey since they are out of production now. Go there and just type in 'Ray Ban Round' and see what pops up!

My Dad gave me a Parker in '66 and I used it until it began to leak.
My wife at the time bought me a Mont Blanc 'Noblesse' which I used for a couple of years.
On a visit to Salzburg, Austria in '84 I bought myself a Mont Blanc Meisterstuck that I carry with me everyday, everywhere...
Well here's our story. We went to Walgreen's Drug Store. In their liquor department is a round fish bowl on the counter. In the fishbowl are ten different types of incense matches - all different scents. All priced at .99 cents.
So, when necessary, we just light an incense match and let...

Hi Olkev, I love your avatar; I've got a pretty good collection of Gable uniform pics myself. It's like the uniform was designed with him in mind!
I think Msgt. Scott was trying to say 'Garcia Aviation' (URL above). I'll...

...I did not know that!
I'm always fascinated by these balloon stories. I distinctly remember Larry Walters
flight over Long Beach, CA back in '82. He became quite a celebrity for fifteen minutes.
I saw him on Letterman's old show and in fact a wristwatch ad campaign...
I've ruined many a good straw during the Phoenix summer - that straw just sucks up the perspiration and stains the band. It tough to keep them nice for long. :rage:

It was bound to happen...
..in today's society! I never would have suspected it though - I friend slipped me a glass containing
Dihydrogen Monoxide and I drank the entire thing unknowingly and without any clue.
Be careful, it can happen to you and you'd never know what you were getting...
Hi ALL, just wanted to post my latest adventure. My girl and I are headed for Tuscany in less than two weeks. We're flying into Florence and getting a car to head out to Montegufoni. During our visit we'll go over to Genoa and then up to Alessandria, home of Borsalino Hats; it's about an...

I'm off to Tuscany at the end of the month just to cool off! It should be about 70f on average.

My Dad's 28th birthday was four days away -02 November, 1929 - and the "Crash" changed his life forever. From 'Jay Gatsby' to vacuum cleaner salesman! He heard the Governor of New York speaking on the radio and became a New Dealer overnight. The 'Crash', the Depression, the New Deal shaped...
