Paddy, the pattern I used is a repro of a 1920s pattern from Eva Dress: http://www.evadress.com/3906.html
I also found some tailor's drafts, which are helpful if you can use them or can be shown to a tailor:

Thank you, all! Florian, I originally wasn't interested in plus fours, but after seeing some pictures of Floungers in them, and seeing catalogue scans with them I liked, they started to grow on me. That also coincided with my interests moving more to the 30s. Sproily, I got the fabric from...
I don't post in this thread much now, but here's me a couple days ago. I also wore a checked jacket, but the photo was for the plus fours. I recently finished them from an Eva Dress reproduction pattern. The tie is vintage, the collar is also home made.
Here's a couple details:
I recently acquired a black double-breasted jacket to wear with a stroller, but would also like a vintage single breasted jacket as an alternative with a waistcoat. Details I'm looking for are: black, single breasted, two or three button, peak lapel, no vents preferred but not essential, to fit...
When I'm working in the department study room (I'm a post-grad), I will sometimes take off my jacket if I'm wearing a waistcoat. If I have to go further away than the coffee pot I'll put the jacket back on.
I've got some things for sale on eBay that my son no longer fits in (and hasn't for a while now!), and would like to send them to a good home. Most have some wear, understandable after several decades and at least two little boys, but are still wearable and date between the '30s and the '60s...
Regarding the pleats, I have trousers both vintage and which I made myself with the pleats stitched down a bit below the waistband and left free. Without fail, those stitched down as Johnny J has described have pleats which drape better.
Very nice trousers, though, I love the fabric.
Marc, you owe us some fully scanned '30s and '40s catalogues for that ;)
While lacking belts and pleats and other such details that are popular on the FLounge, it's a serviceable suit. I would gladly wear it as part of my weekly wardrobe, but it's nothing particularly special. I would be...
I have four detachable shirt collars for sale on eBay, two womens early Edwardian collars (size 13 1/2 and 14), a 30's mens spearpoint collar (15 1/2) and a 40s collar (15 1/2) with the CC41 mark...
Probably not. I get a lot of things shipped over from the States, so I know what shipping can be like. Given the probable weight of the jacket, $32 is perhaps a bit high but not far off. If the shipping to the UK were free I'd think something was up. I have seen truly terrible shipping...
It's too bad shipping to the UK is so much, or it would now belong to me. I assume that the sleeves aren't actually 34" long (that would be a 40reallyL).
On the train back home from York a couple weeks ago I noticed the girl in front of me had her laptop out and was taking my picture on her webcam. She then posted it to someone she was skyping with, with something to the effect of 'Check out the 'tache on the guy behind me'.
My toddler son snapped my antique pince nez in half. I put the lenses on another mounting I have, but it just isn't as comfortable as the old one, so I need to find another one. I need to get a new prescription anyway, but being a bit strapped for cash I'll probably get my monocle reglazed...
I've looked through all the catalogue scans I've collected and found a few examples, all from the '20s and '30s. It seems a light-coloured homburg was used for a sportier look with patch pockets.
They aren't wing, they're just opened flat and stacked together.
I had a Faulat collar, it was very good quality. I ended up selling it because it was a touch too large for me.
