Have I just bought a ladies shirt?

buttons up on the 'wrong' side, arms strangely wide and slightly too short.
I'm pretty sure it's a ladies' shirt but I wanted to check with you guys before I send it back.
Just to clarify, it wasn't advertised as such. lol

Arm width and length aren't necessarily indicators it's a woman's shirt. Buttoning right over left, though, is a dead giveaway.

In my defense, it was advertised as a man's shirt. The price was right, it was a Wrangler, so I went for it! Just my luck to end up with the one ladies shirt in the men's section! But that's ebay for you. :D

@scottyrocks, not really, pretty much what I'm used to, strangely enough.

I used to own a brushed cotton, lumberjack type shirt that was indistinguishable from a man's shirt, save buttoning to the "wrong" side. Personally, I rather enjoyed it - it amused me to think I was cross-dressing at work and noone ever noticed. That one is a lady's shirt, though. The bottons, plus the other giveaway should be the size labelling (unless it's just of the S/M/L variety). That said.... 99.9% of people will never notice if you wear it anyhow.

I was under the impression that zippers and buttons in (parts of) Europe could be on the opposite side (the left) of what I am accustomed to in the U.S. Any chance of this? Iow, maybe it is a man's shirt afterall.

If I'm honest, I'm not too convinced by the denim on denim look now that I've tried it. Might send it back and ask to swap with a check shirt. Thanks for the replies, all!

One of the old lab coats at work was a women's. Clumsy as heck to button.

I don't know how a woman who borrows a guy's shirt can put up with it.

Nope, buttons are the same everywhere..... except in fencing clothing. A left handed fencer will wear a tunic buttoned the 'male' way, but for right handers it is buttoned the 'female' way, irrespective of gender (the only gender difference is the male jacket is longer and cut to accommodate a codpiece). The reason for this is to ensure that when one adopts a fighting stance the opening of the tunic is away from your opponent's blade, not towards it, thus ensuring that it canot slip in between the layers of fabric.

Ha, yes, that was the only drawback with the one I owned.
