Hello everyone,
I was hoping you might be able to help me! I bought some lamps last year at an antique fair - I'm not sure what decade they are from - they have been rewired and are good to go except they came with horrible clear glass globe shades c1980's. I bought some lovely amber...
I laughed when I read that! You are so right!!!!!!!! I think it's nice for old things to have a little wear and tear - it adds to the charm of the piece.
And that's a great idea that you saw in the magazine - a girl I know did something similar in her hallway and it looked so good!
Thank you Miss Sofia! I had no idea that replacing a mirror would be so expensive - I thought it would be similar to the price of regular glass - yikes I better be careful with the mirrors now! It is amazing that these mirrors are still knocking around and in very lovely condition too - the...
Rue - thank you! I was thinking that maybe the second mirror was from around that timeframe too - the wooden frame looks quite old but it was the chain at the back that had me thinking....
DNO - thank you! Our sunburst mirror is one of my favourites too - sadly it's not vintage (it's Laura...
DNO - that's a beautiful vase - a gorgeous colour!
I got these two mirrors in Oxfam yesterday - they have opened a new branch that deals with vintage furniture - can't wait to go back again and see what they have:
I figure this one is from the 40's or maybe later:
This one I am not...
I was hemming and hawing about that book for ages - it's nice to hear from someone that I "know" that it's an enjoyable read! I loved her Audrey Style book (although some fans slated it). Think I might go for it now!
Aw thanks Kate - I just stumbled across it and really liked the colour and cut and it was on sale, so why not?! Won't get to wear it for a couple of months though but it'll be there for when the weather gets finer!
Another good buy Faith!
Thank you Paul and Miss Sofia! Yes, those are little rhinestone buttons on the Kay Windsor dress - I love that late 50's early 60's style too - I think it suits my shape best. In fact I have decided to put my circle skirts into retirement and stick with a straighter...
Wonderful suggestions from C-Dot and Miss Sofia! I really can't get over the disrespect some people show when invited into another person's home - arriving totally blotto is just not acceptable - seriously, have you not had enough sauce that evening already?!
Faith - I think you were right to treat yourselves with your weddings gifts - why not? It's the one time I think you should and not worry or feel guilty about it - just think of buying those lovely things as the gifts you received! So many beautiful finds there - love the colour of the stones...
When I see the way some people eat in restaurants these days I am not in the least surprised that your lovely home sadly ended up in such a mess. Many people don't care about their owns things so they sure aren't going to care about anyone else's posessions/home etc. People don't seem to want...
Ha! Busted! I do have quite a soft spot for that pretty kitty!
I've never had an advent calendar - a more permanent one sounds like a lovely idea - have you got yours up now?
Our first Christmas decoration went up today - a Hello Kitty Advent Calendar:
My daughter loves "Kitty" and anything with "Kitty" on it - I think so far I have provided the Sanrio Corporation with their Christmas bonuses.....
Another incredible Sagittarian!!!!!;)
Mine is two days before you on the 6th - I hope you have a lovely day - sounds like you're all set for a wonderful party!
I saw Kenneth Brannagh being interviewed on the BBC the other week regarding his role as Olivier - apparently they gave him a prosthetic chin - I've looked at photos/scenes from the movie and his make-up is superb.
Although on a separate note I think Michael Fassbender looks a lot like a...
