Thanks for the tips ladies! I bought a pair of unworn leather and raffia shoes and to say the leather is hard is an understatement - my feet practically cry putting them on - it's like wearing breeze blocks on my feet! I won't be wearing them until next Spring/Summer but hopefully some of the...
I think that may work for a lot of young people - it gives them a taste of the reality of caring for a baby - I'm not sure it would work for everyone though. I think you can't replace parental guidance (or your guardian whoever that might be) when it comes to these matters - but sadly a lot of...
There was a huge debate about the BFing doll on another forum I visit from time to time - some people thought it was a great idea and some found it a bit on the creepy side. If it's the same doll we are talking about there is a bib that has flowers on it that are meant to be nipples - I find...
I worked in London in 2001 for a claims company and I refused this woman's insurance claim (I was completely in the right and followed the claims company rules to the letter) and she heard my accent and began quizzing me on where the claims office was (London) and how I was working in the City...
I've never liked NYE - I've always found it quite anticlimactic. I used to head into town but really disliked going into packed pubs, dealing with people who are completely plastered, waiting ages to get served at the bar and then ages to get a taxi home. I much prefer to stay in now and avoid...
Jish1969 - thank you and thank you so much for the links - when I have a spare moment today I will have a good look through them (the prices seem very reasonable) - maybe I might be lucky enough to find the "perfect" shade!!!!!!!!
Ah I see what you are getting at - yes the end is flat and the glass is around half a centimetre thick. I'll check our local crafts shop and see what they have - thanks again for all your help - it's much appreciated!
Here is a photo of the shade - sorry it's not the best photo. The shades are only ok - they aren't exactly what I want to put on them (although the colour is lovely and should throw a warm light) but it's hard to find a pair in good condition from the right era that fit! The quest will continue!
Thank you! Yes, I was thinking of replacing the cord as the current one is not in keeping with the style of the lamp - any idea of what decade it could be from? I really can't say!
Just one more thing - where would I get acrylic glass from? Thank you!
