A reblock is necessary when a hat becomes in such sad shape that it won't any longer hold a pleasant shape or it holds a bad shape that won't come out. Maybe it sat somewhere in a crushed state etc.. or maybe you simply want a hat to be a completely new shape and a thorough cleaning. To an...
A 4 1/4 crown doesn't fit you well? That's not that tall. I suspect it very well may look just fine but either you haven't seen yourself in a crown like that before or someone close to you hasn't and has put this in your head. Wear it a bit and get used to it, it does take some getting used...
Shorter brims sell for less usually. The really nice old Dobbs, Pilgrims, Stetsons with shorter brims are quite numerous on ebay. I have seen a lot of them sell for under $25. No hat made today will be that good for that amount of money. Unless you have some inordinately large sized noggin...
I started wearing hats over 20 years ago. They were all handed down to me by my grandfather and uncles. I came from a large older family and all the men wore hats. I admired these men and wanted to be like them. Unfortunately most of those hats are too small, some i could stretch, some not...
JFK always mentioned in this discussion and his credit or blame is highly overrated. It took years for the decline of hats and many men wore them well into the 60's. Finally the adulthood of hippies did hat in, but they is still too simplistic probably.
Very valid. It certainly has its own scent and its own allure. Yes many memories. I find not only personal memories when smelling the sea, but also a sort of historical and vast acknowledgment of the enormity of the ocean and what it has seen, in effect.
The news, society, our culture, our form of government and liberties naturally are inextricably intertwined with politics and policy. It is fortunate for us as a somewhat educated society of inquisitive and independent people that we are this way. To try and force something different is...
I have also noticed that certain smells and sounds make me long for days gone by and make me yearn for other smells. I grew up racing motorcycles. I'll catch a whiff every once in a while of something that makes me miss the the sound of the revving 2 stroke engine and the smell of burning...
As I posted over on CW, excellent that you're enjoying the hat, you and DblCorona both seem to like yours and as expected the Havana is the requested style for cigar lovers, mine and TommyBB's are too. T is RedPop over here.
Welcome to the lounge by the way.
Some people just get way too wrapped up in the auction. i have seen this happen in other areas as well. CigarBid is an online cigar auction site and JR Cigars has one as well. I regularly see people bid more for the price of a box of cigars than the regularly suggested price. They pay...
Our bedroom is a very similar color to the one you picked out. we have all antique furniture in there and it looks very nice. Now at all frou frou. I'm sure with the addition of certain accessories it could be made to be so, but the color certainly doesn't make it so.
I agree with Bruno. If you are going to keep it long, a wider brim is a must. Which is why I suggested the cowboy earlier or an Akubra country style hat.
Cut your hair ya hippy, headbanger whatever. You insist on keeping that hair, get an old beatup cowboy hat and you can look like the bad guys in the movies or like Bon Jovi, whichever. :eusa_doh:
