What is your personal 'No-No' for makeup, hair, & wardrobe?

:) Hey neat thread idea!:) My personal no-no's are: -Pale lipstick, especially if it's used with dark liner. -A tan, not only unhealthy (unless it's from a bottle) but fake is orangey looking, but not very vintage, and I just look strange with a tan.:D -Obnoxious perfume, the...

    Dita Von Teese

I heard that if you wipe your nails with polish remover before you paint them the polish sticks better, and very thin coats stick well in my experience. Mine always tend to chip, because of working at the Gallery, I swear unglazed pottery is the worst thing for a manicure.:D

They're at the base of the fingernail, it's kind of a whiteish semi-circle against the cuticle. I notice not everyone has them though. :)

Credo of the new Vintage Lady

I love that you added this:eusa_clap I hear way too much malicious gossip, and it makes me want to forget my manners and say something equally rude to the perpetrators, but settle for " I like that person, they're really nice" when it applies. In my opinion, Miss Manners' Guide To...

Well update time! I was on campus today, in a beige pencil skirt, black sweater and boots, complete with red lip, and mascaraed lashes, if you don't mind my arrogant moment:o I must say I looked very vintage. I was walking to my practicum, through the main building, and recieved many...

Any other gals growing their hair out?

I'm trying to grow my hair too, my goal is waist length. I hear from a friend that any longer and there starts to be problems with sitting on one's hair and the like, that would be uncomfortable:D The best advice I've gotten so far is to moisturise like there's no tomorrow, especially if you...

Hello! I'm new too, just wanted to introduce myself.

Okay, this is just to see if my fiddling worked, all answers to questions are now on the "newbies front and center" thread. But if this works, there should be a quote of Judy Garland from The Easter Parade, I ran out of room to credit the film, but I absolutely love it, and that particular...

    Diamonds aren't (always) a girl's best friend...

Hello All! While I think diamonds are lovely, they've not only become cliched, but bloody, and we have only perpetuated the bloodshed by buying them. I do know that you can buy bloodless diamonds, at a rather pretty penny from legitimate traders, but most people either don't know, or choose...

    Dita Von Teese

I have her book too! I loooove the photos, she uses, I think they are so pretty. I wish I could go see a show, GOK be sure to tell us all about it. Now if I ever had a motivator to work out more and wear vintage, she's it, she always looks so classy, and mysterious. I even use the same...

    Responses for the Vintage Lady

Hello Again! It became apparent to me a little while back, that this would definitely be an ineresting foray into who I am, but I must confess I wasn't quite prepared for the stares, glares, innocent and mocking questions I got from people when I went out in semi-vintage, a modern pencil...

The Decline of the Well Put Together Lady

I know where you're coming from on that, being a college student I try to dress well, but my forty (I kid you not :) ) pound back pack is not the gentelest thing on my pretty blouses and dresses:rage: ( the things I do for my educationlol ). I usually will wear really dark clean jeans or pants...

The Decline of the Well Put Together Lady

Oh thank heaven I though I was the only one seeing all this! I was walking to class a while ago, and saw one young lady walking to the Professors offices in shorts so short the only thing that hit me was that my most revealing knickers covered more! That and a tank top with spaghetti...

    Nutrition and exercise!

Hello Karate is fantastic for keeping toned and strong, and it's low impact so it won't damage joints. I need to start getting more cardio in though, I absolutely hate it so I'm always unmotivated. Tango is also a nice way to get moving.
