flowers i can definitely do without, though, unless the person picked them on their way over to meet me.
some of my ideas have been mentioned already - book signings, free concerts, open mic nights, last/first/third thursday/friday/whateverday, farmer's market...
i live in a city where it's very, very easy to get around without a car. i bike almost everywhere i go, and take public transportation when i don't. i get very frustrated without my bike though - i can usually get places 15-30 min faster by bike than by bus/lightrail!

ahh, but my bedroom in the 1897 farmhouse i live in has 3 closets and 2 cupboards, and 4 drawers built into the walls, so i guess that means i get to fill them! ;) :D
i like them - i just don't think i could do the color! every time i get something orange i have a dilemma about what to wear with it, and then don't ever wear it. :( hmmm.
i love those pouches - what a great idea! i'm envisioning you making a whole series of matching items for clothing storage purposes!
i've been using my mom's stocking pouch for years, the accordion-fold type... but it's vinyl and is now starting to crack, so it might be time to use it for...
ya see, this really peeves me off.* my bust and hip measurements are only a couple inches larger than yours, bella, but i HAVE NO WAIST. seriously. my body does not nip in at the waist! so i look a lot bigger, and have a harder time finding clothes!!! /rant

i think it depends a lot on the kid, and if she's into the idea of a vintage machine.
on on hand, my ex learned on grandma's 1921 treadle machine at age 7 and sewed up a storm.
on the other... my mom tried to teach me on her 1980s Singer and i was terrified of all the functions. fast...
that's funny, because i can't wear ANYTHING in torrid despite technically fitting into their sizes. i think my frame is too small! i know a ton of gals who buy everything there though, and they all look fantastic.
too big for forever 21, too small for torrid... what's a girl to do?? :rolleyes:
