Yup, I've used talc to remove rings left by lighter fluid and K2R. The unscented talc is hard to find but baby powder works fine. Just be prepared to smell like you just had your diaper changed. :o
Just rub the talc in lightly with a finger and let it sit overnight.
Now brush and brush...

Well, while we're hanging here I found this how to for knife pleats.
This should give some idea of how much material one would need for a given number and size of pleats. I guess the ends are just gathered and folded.
