    Show us your Horrockses dresses!

Is it the sleeveless one? (It isn't me btw!) I saw that, but thought that label is a bit later, 60's or 70's, but it does seem to be sewn on a bit crooked, so it's a tough call. It's still pretty, but not sure about the alterations and label.

    My shoe hell!

Well, if it makes you feel better, one of my cats likes to pee on piles of laundry occasionally, or in baskets, tote bags, and shoes. He recently ruined a great pair of knee length suede boots I have had for years and had just gotten re-heeled. The other one doesn't pee on things, but puts her...

    Help me accessorize this Outfit!

Oh hello Lottie, haven' seen you around here for ages! Beautiful shoes, and I would wear them with jewel tones and gold jewellery, but I quite like wearing colours together. I'm thinking of emerald green, dark purple or burgundy, teal, mustard or saffron, navy etc. Maybe colour-blocking.

It was the blue and brown one with the bolero, but I can't remember the seller's name right now. I figured it slipped through because the skirt has a lot of volume and it might get lost in the folds. But there were quite a few, sime look like rust stains. So annoying when that happens. To bring...

    My shoe hell!

Oh no! Not sure how to fix that, but just wanted to say I feel for you. I hate when anything I wear rips or gets scratches or pulls - I'm always conscious where I leave my clothes, living with two cats. Maybe ask a cobbler if they would be able to source some leather of that colour and fix the...

I don't know what I'd do. I guess if they aren't willing to do a partial, then I'd send it back just on principle. They obviously don't believe you, or think they can resell it for the same amount or higher. Did they offer to pay for the return shipping as well? If so, send it back, another...

Just for info, don't threaten sellers with negative feedback, as that is considered feedback extortion and Ebay doesn't allow that! The seller will know anyway that if the buyer is unhappy they could leave negative feedback, and will most likely try to work with the buyer.

Oh no, sorry to hear that! I would send the seller a message telling them you're disappointed and see what they say. If they get defensive and don't attempt to make it right, I'd either start a SNAD case on Ebay and send it back, or leave neutral or negative feedback. If they're a good seller...

Indeed a lovely purse:) I just bought this dress after watching it for months: I also tried on these shoes today and they are so comfy, so I ordered them when I got home. They're perfect for walking the dog I think. And this coat I meant to buy last year but never did. It isn't vintage...

Everyday Women of the Golden Era

The following are all people from my husband's family album, but we don't know who they are as his great aunt isn't able to tell us.

Everyday Women of the Golden Era

My husband's grandmother. Apparently she was a very mean-spirited woman and treated my MIL and her own son badly. With her second husband and my FIL on the bike My in-laws on their wedding day in 1972

Everyday Women of the Golden Era

We went to see my in-laws yesterday, and my MIL was going through pictures my husband's great aunt gave her recently. She is in a home and suffering from serious dementia, so unfortunately I have no backstory to most of the photos, nor did my MIL know who some of the people were. I took pictures...

The Cleaning Clothes (vintage or other) Thread

I would still be really careful, I washed two rayon crepe dresses, or soaked them rather, and both shrunk. I did press them whilst damp, and they went back to original size somewhat, put the sleeves on one just didn't, and the other one had a lovely pleat details to the front that was just...

^Ooh, I tried that one as well, but it wasn't my size. They also had a lovely white one with black polka dots. I may go back next week and spend some of my money there. I really liked the one that is also in their TV ads. I remember seeing the ad and thinking that they never have full midi...

Cute jewellery! We went to TKMaxx today for some items for hubby, but I found a few 50's style skirts and actually gasped, they have quite a good selection at the moment, and all long enough as well. My lovely husband bought me this brushed cotton skirt, which has the most vivid watercolour...
