For the gentlemen of NYC looking for a good suit...

I saved the images from an online accquantence's live journal blog. For some reason, they end up looking wonky when I post them here. I have trouble posting images here sometimes, I think it's because I have a MAC and my browser is Safari. Here is the clothiers website, you can probably...

    Loungers' Pets

Goodness what a little princess... Gertie loved when I was on the computer and working at my desk when she was baby. She always had to be in the middle of whatever I was working on, she was so curious. (And still is - I have to lock her up when we work on the house otherwise she gets in the...

    Scouting anyone?

As a child, I grew flowers to show at the county fair. I'll never forget the year I grew a monsterously big celosia and won the blue ribbon! Such a thrill when you're little.

    Scouting anyone?

My husband was a boy scout most of his youth, his father was a scout leader. He's always spoken highly of scouting and plans to be involved if we have a son. He saved his father's scout leader uniform just for that purpose. :)

    Elderly Parents and Bad Illness

John, my thoughts are with you and your family. I've been through similar circumstances with my own grandmother and most recently a great aunt at the beginning of the year. She had no living immediate family of her own, so my husband and his mother helped to care for her. She had no children...

    Halloween Costumes

I hate these costumes more than anything in the world! We go through the costume stores just to laught at the prepackaged sexy _______ (insert occupation here) costumes. Hubby and I joke that we're going to start our own line of costumes with ridiculous juxtapositions like sexy hobo and sexy...

Share your own art here :)

Does needlepoint count? I don't have many pictures of the things I've made, but here's a simple shirt that I embroidered for a friends' daughter: Currently, I'm working on a big 18th century scrimshaw-inspired design of a clipper ship. It feels like I've been embroidering it forever! Next...

I got a new bedroom set too!

Thanks for the kind words, everyone! Husband's already a little miffed that we're getting rid of the more manly dark wood bedroom set. I think painting the room coral might be too much for him. lol I was thinking of painting the room a light taupe color with brown trim. I really like...

I got a new bedroom set too!

I got the pieces all home safely (mostly). We had to make two trips because the chiffarobe and mirror were too big to fit in the bed of the pickup with the cap on it. So we wrapped the chiffarobe and big dresser mirror up in moving blankets and tied them into the open bed of the pick up. I...

Lots and lots of pictures from a Historic Clothing exhibit! 1700s-1980s. Take a look!

The embroidery on the 18th century pieces is amazing - truely the golden age of embroidery. Can you imagine how labor intensive these pieces were? My fingers go numb just thinking about it.
