It's already laid him an egg Che! Yep, the Lounge is poorer without Garrett's contributions.
FYI, The Wonderluxe styling is named after Garrett.
Daniele, I wish you could touch it too as I know you would appreciate it. Here are the dimensions for you: Brim= 2 3/8" (6 cm) Ribbon= 2 3/16" (5.5...
Che! Now that's a straw hat! Killer vintage buntal and I bet you forgot you had it! Always look'n tip top Che.
Nice weekend posts fellas, looking forward to the rest of the days posts
Thanks fellas! In the spirit OG! Panama's and Hawaiian shirts are a perfect match.
GHT, the video resolution makes it hard to determine the hat. I assumed it was a fine weave straw but in the end it looked to be felt. If it was felt, I actually think it's probably a womans hat, also because of...
Thanks fellas, all credit to Bob. Alan, I'll let Bob answer the technical questions. I probably shouldn't say this yet, but Bob has another brim edge surprise up his sleeve.
My first post of the season of hopefully many more. Wearing the original Hawaiian shirt, the palaka. The Sovereign Stetson on top, one of the rare times I'll wear a felt with my Hawaiian shirts.
A few more pixs just because I'm trying to convey the beauty of Bob's Velveteen finish. It's kind of like a lightweight velor, super-soft and smooth but not as heavy. The color is steel and it's blocked in the Wonderluxe style:
Got the word from Bob my Velveteen Beaver was ready so it wasn't too hard to get me off my ass and pick it up. Another fun and educational visit and got to meet Bob's new homeless chicken. Bob is good peeps.
So here's a repeat of a pix of the hat still on the block a couple weeks back, it's a...
Too bad Garrett isn't posting anymore, he could add pages to this thread. Here's one of his amazing heathers featuring purple/blues/greens/grays/golds/maybe more. This pix doesn't do it justice:
Or something from your own hand, the only heather I own:
An unsual but nice crown Daniele. I especially like the unbleached 2 tone weave or patina of it. It sounds like your aversion to straw hats is an unfortunate cultural one, something like associating straw hats to hillbillies here in the new world. All I can say is enjoy it's obvious comfort...
Hi Peter, that's a tough question because it seems most hat retailers grade their weaves differently. Classic example of lack of standardization. Hopefully somebody who's bought a hat from your source can help out. Grade 22 sounds impressive but suppose it depends on how many other grades there are.
It's been 6 long months since there's been any action here. There are some advantages to the winter season, Pendelton shirts and mouton collar coats for example, but my favorite season is Straw hat and Aloha shirt season. It's still a bit too cool here, but the sun is starting to shine more...
moehawk, if you google the subject, you will find plenty of answers to your question and also see there is much controversy over how straw hats are graded. Here is a link to one of many websites trying to explain weave quality...
