Just placed a down payment on my final "kid" hat. Bob is making it to commemorate our official adoption of our daughter. This will be my third and most likely final hat to give to each to my three kids. Will be navy or powder blue felt with white ribbon accents to represent the adoption awareness ribbon color. Blue is for her birthstone. Going to have halo stitching and Bob suggested I go with a longer hair felt, he is thinking something like a cross country or gun club look from the 50s. I am beyond excited

Here's a bump. Garrett and I enjoyed another visit with Bob Sat.

The usual scene, most of those hats belong to Garrett.

This ladies hat caught my eye:

Looking forward to posting more on these at a future date, vintage buntal project and my steel velveteen beaver still wet on the block:

Thanks Che! Your admiration for Garrett's hats is mutual. All the hats on the table but the cap, a Stetson I wore there, and one of the buntal bodies belong to Garrett. He is always well stocked and all are very vintage and either about to be refurbed by Bob or just finished. Each would take an extensive post to appreciate. It's a privilege to be able to see and handle them in person.

Great Canvas Cap Mike! I have had several upgrades to the Ostrich Leather Sweatband from Bob because of you. Thank you! They really grip the head on a windy day like no other!

Thanks Jeff, RJR, and Howard. Jeff, I really enjoyed your post on your Gary White visit.

Joao, yes, it is a long hair but it will be shorter by the time it's finished. It's going through Bob's brushing process now.

Got the word from Bob my Velveteen Beaver was ready so it wasn't too hard to get me off my ass and pick it up. Another fun and educational visit and got to meet Bob's new homeless chicken. Bob is good peeps.

So here's a repeat of a pix of the hat still on the block a couple weeks back, it's a standard Winchester body Bob worked his magic on with some old school tips gleaned from translated texts from mayserwegener's great German Austrian Hats thread:

and the finished hat in shade:

and bright sunshine:

The ribbon is some of Bob's hand dyed with matching halo stitch on the brim:

I chose the natural sweat and Bob chose the liner:

A few more pixs just because I'm trying to convey the beauty of Bob's Velveteen finish. It's kind of like a lightweight velor, super-soft and smooth but not as heavy. The color is steel and it's blocked in the Wonderluxe style:
