A nice way to finish my day.

I've heard about women berating men for holding doors for them, but it's never happened to me. Maybe I'm just lucky. I think the upside of having a lady think well of one for doing so outweighs the downside. ;) Thanks for relating that story, we really need to hear about positive...

    RAF Lounge (Deck) Chairs...

What is the weight capacity of these chairs? Some of them look a little... frail.

    L.M. Boyd-Grab Bag died

I remember his column, called "Just Checking" with the byline Lou Boyd, from the San Francisco newspapers and also in Hawaii. The Hawaii paper also carried Herb Caen, and now they're both gone. :(

    A treasure restored...

It's a canvas bag which is filled with water. A small amount of water seeps through the canvas and evaporates, the evaporation cools the water in the bag. It only works when the humidity is low. Hanging it over the front of the car provides air flow over it to aid in cooling. I haven't...

    Man barred for showing belly

Ah. A picture's worth a thousand words. His shirt isn't too short, his trousers are too low. He needs to look into pants that come up to the natural waistline. His belly isn't really any bigger than mine, and that's what I've done.

Can you remember where you were when you heard Princess Diana had been killed?...etc

JFK: I was two and a half, no memories no matter how hard I try. RFK and Martin Luther King: I was 7, and I hadn't heard of either gentleman before I heard of their murders. Elvis: I was 16, and I think I heard about it on the radio at a friend's father's gas station. John Lennon...

How many times per week do you visit the Lounge?

The longest time I've been away from the Lounge was when I was on the Queen Mary, and that didn't count because the Lounge was there too! :D

    What is the Fedora Lounge?

MK's first post in this thread should be in the FAQ if it isn't already.

    Weird and Forgotten Movies

Be sure to listen to the audio commentary tracks on Bubba. Bruce Campbell is pretty darn funny! I don't know if it was mentioned, but look out for Psychomania. Zombie Brit-bikers and George Sanders!

How many own a vintage suit?

Thanks to a tip from Nick Charles, I just picked up a 1951 dated jacket from the Bay, pretty cheap. Maybe now I'll get to experience that classic cut firsthand. I'll post a pic or two when it shows up. The seller said it had some moth holes, but it was cheap enough to be a good...

    "Open Road" mania

One of my Open Roads has a pretty good cattleman's crease, and I like it. It's more of a "summertime" look for me, I think.

    Purchased this week

That hat is magnificent. I've heard 1947 mentioned around here as the first year of the Royal DeLuxe, and since there's no plastic in the liner, it looks like an early one.

How many own a vintage suit?

I haven't voted yet because I still hold out hope of finding a vintage suit. If I lose 50-75 pounds I should be able to wear a size 48 jacket. I'm on the lookout for anything size 48-54 in the meantime.
