    Formal Wear Primer

Morning coats have been made with textured cloth for about as long as they've been made, I think. I've seen more than one from the '30s and before that had a herringbone weave. All British, not Japanese, but I think they'd still be acceptable in your context.

Does anyone know a U.S. retailer for Saphir Shoe Wax?

Renovateur is a conditioner/cleaner, and it's a first step you should do before you use cream and wax polish.

NOS (worn once) '60s white bucks, 11E

They probably actually fit pretty true to size, maybe just a bit wide. 11E isn't my normal size, but sometimes I can wear it. I took a chance on these, and they didn't pan out.

NOS (worn once) '60s white bucks, 11E

Got these '60s white bucks NOS from an Ebay seller who was clearing out some old stock from a store that had closed. Sadly, they don't fit me very well, and I only wore them once. Size is 11E; the soles measure 12.5" by 4.25". They've got the original all-leather soles and heels, of course...

    Polo Ralph Lauren sportcoat--41/42L

Polo Ralph Lauren (blue label, made in USA) spring/summer odd jacket. Feels like a silk/linen/wool blend, in a brown/cream broken bone patten with windowpanes of lavender, blue-green and a coral-ish orange. Really lovely colors, perfect for Easter, Kentucky Derby, or other spring events...

    1934 Article: Shoe Industry

Interesting that the salesman would actually put a starter crease in the shoes for you with a "bone or buttonhook" before you left the store.

    Pipe restoration

Over the Thanksgiving holiday, I found a vintage 1933 Dunhill pipe in a thrift store for $10. It was in overall good condition, but needed some restoration and sanitizing before I could smoke it. I sent it off to Dave Wolff at Walker Briar Works, and he worked his magic. It came back looking...

    Batsakes Hat Shop in Cincinnati

Anybody happen to know if Batsakes is open on Sunday? I'm at a B&B near Cincy with my wife tonight, and we're going to be doing some shopping around the city tomorrow. I'd like to stop by if it's open.

Satin is a weave. Silk is a fiber. You can have cotton satin or silk satin. You can also weave silk other ways.

    '40s Schoble Supreme XXXX 7 1/2

I bought this hat about fifteen months ago from one of Johnnyphi's auctions. It's a beautiful hat, and part of me is sorry to part with it. But it's been sitting in my closet unworn for most of that time, and I've come to the conclusion that it just isn't right for me. Hats of proportions...
