    Hair and Humidity

My hair falls flat if the weather report just mentions humidity! I agree with Rosie, use John Frieda products. I use the Moisture Barrier hairspray and it really works. It is also good if you have too tight a set (i.e. frizzy) and want to soften it down a bit. I like the hairnet idea too:)

    Besame cosmetics

What does of everyone think of the new website? I was just wondering what everyone thought of Besame's redesigned website. I am a little disappointed as some of the features I liked, like Margo's letters, are no longer there, neither are the vintage model looks. I think it has lost some of...

    Show us your vintage home!

Beautiful furniture! It would be my dream come true to redo my whole house in a mid-century style, but unfortunately a little thing called $$ stands in my way:mad:

    Cardigans, cardigans, cardigans!

Try changing the buttons on a ho-hum cardigan.... A quick fix to get a "vintage-y" look, is to simply change the buttons. Switching to a pearl or rhinestone button will really jazz up a plain one! I've done this and it really looks nice - try it on an inexpensive cardigan (Target or...

    Vintage/Retro Cosmetic brands?

VO5 is another hairspray that has been around for a long time. It comes in several different types, I use the extra body. One of my favorites is John Frieda's Frizz Ease. When I have a really tight set, and I spray my hair with it, it really softens it out.

    non orangey self tanners

I like the Coppertone "Endless Summer" gradual tan, and I also just bought the Loreal Sublime ( in fair).

When did you first start wearing Make-up?

I was a huge Bonnie Bell fan when I was in Jr. High, all those Lipsmacker flavors... As far as "real" makeup, I guess I was in high school probably about 15 or 16. Powder, lipgloss, eyeliner and mascara. Very badly applied of course!

That floral apron is gorgeous! When I first saw it, I thought for sure it was a sundress!

    Cute Vintage-y Shoes

The Navy ones get my vote too!:eusa_clap I saw them, in my old standby the Vermont Country Store catalog. As far as wearing them with/without socks, years ago there used to be a type of sock called PEDS (I don't know if they still make them), they basically were a very low rise sock that...

    Help with finger waves

To get those short nape hairs curled, try twisting them around a pencil and then pinning them. For me, the only way I can get curls and not "fish hooks" at the ends is to do this.

    Help with finger waves

How I use wave clamps Yup, those are the same ones I got. It really is trial and error, you have to keep playing with the clamps to get the look you want. To set my hair, I start with just washed hair with Lottabody combed through. I make a part (side part for me), comb it ( make sure...

    Help with finger waves

Another suggestion.... I bought some aluminum wave clamps (not the same as clips) from Amazon. They were @ $6.00 for a dozen, but if there is a beauty supply store near you, you would be better off looking there since the shipping cost was as much as the clips themselves! Anyway, my hair is...

    Setting Lotion

One of my aunts always used either flat beer or Knox gelatin (disolved in water first) to set her hair. I think they would make the hair kind of icky and sticky. I wouldn't use either one, but I have seen the flax seed recipe before, and that doesn't sound too bad.

    What are your favorite colors?

I love hunter green, red, robin's egg blue and gray as single colors. For combos: navy and gray, black and almost any color (pink, turquoise, white...), green and pink and I also love the new combo this season of chocolate brown combined with certain shades of blue. Yummy!:)

    Do you tell?

I'm turning 40 at the end of the year  . But I don't mind admitting my age. Although, no one has ever asked. This may be because I'm happy with where my life is now. As I have gotten older, I have more self confidence and am more self assured than I ever was in my 20's.

    Nutrition and exercise!

I try ("try" being the operative word :) ) to work out on my treadmill everyday for at least 30 minutes. I also count housework as exercise, running up and down the stairs with laundry and all that bending and stretching to vacumn multiple times a day. Family sit down meals are...
