Any light you can shine to help narrow down a date would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks for the welcome.....So what decade Alan do you estimate this Borsa is from .
Oh, and if I'm the most Senior Member, what decade do you estimate I'm from? Ha,ha...lol! Suppose that 1912 must have gotten a few laughs....lol! Whew....
Rewrite: 2012....
In July 1912 my wife got me this Borsalino for my birthday...We picked it up in a vintage clothes costume shop for movies and tv in Istanbul....I'm now applying for membership here at the Borsalino Brotherhood....
At the time I couldn't post pics, but some of you fine folks asked me...
Hey.....I've been pricing on line, their site and Brooks Bros....To tell the truth....I have seen my favorite Lock & Co. models become available from time to time at very reasonable prices...
I even picked up my Holy Grail, at a very reasonable price....I think this thing about them being over...
They said, the fur hood was sourced from Isesa....and the hat was made in Manchester at their facility, which is private. No tours or contact info needed. They told me the complete history of my hat from sourcing the fur to the finished hat being supplied to Brooks Bros in New York...They were...
Man, the service at Lock & Co. Is Legendary and I can see why!...I've been inquiring about my hat recently as you can see just a few posts above, and I just got an e-mail from Sue Simpson, Managing Director at Locks, telling me a little more about Sandowns in general and wishing me many years of...
Man, everyone is looking great asusual...I hesitated posting these at all...These shots definitely aren't great, but they are all I have...This was at the Pacific Crest Ski Lift, in Snoqualmie Pass WA. Having a coffee in front of the fire, with Lock & Co. Sandown Trilby and ear muffs...Who says...
LIt's been awhile since anyone posted a thin ribbon....My favorite hat is a T-R so I wanted to try and reboot this thread, and join it aswell...}8^)) This was a candid behind the scenes shot of Sean Connery in Istanbul while filming "From Russia With Love" ...Definitely has a great thin ribbon...
Today I spoke with Lock & Co over the phone....I was trying to get the complete hat tag on my Sandown trilby deciphered...And they were glad to help...
First off, Isesa E is were they sourced the fur....He said, they can't source it in the UK so they buy the best fur they can from where ever...
BTW, what do you guys think of Isesa Hatters and the product they are cuttrently manf...?
And I know Isesa is producing their own felt....whoelse is sourcing felt to the big $ Co's like Lock, Stetson etc.?
Thanks 'MW'.....I have always been a fan of your knowledge.....
Wow...if thats the case, Isesa is making a great hat....Is Isesa the same as Fernandez y Roche, or is FyR just one of the labels Isesa is making hats for....
I'm wondering what the word "York" means....and also EA120....is that...
What does this tell me about my Lock & Co Sandown?
Does this mean the hat was made in spain? Or that the fur was sourced by Isesa? I heard Lock used a couple of places in Manchester to block many of their hats....I've no idea what this means but would love to....
The hat is wonderful though no...
That worked out great ! Very hip. And it means something....
You know in the future when you want or need to replace that strap, Crown & Buckle have some very nice leather nato straps that would fit that perfect and you'd just slide it through the slot, underneath the watch, and out the bottom...
I'm easy...I always wanted a Lock & Co Sandown Trilby....Out of my price range....My wife found me one last Christmas....It still knocks me out...it is so soft and just feels and shapes great....
You know sometimes it's the little things that mean the most...I know you guys here understand this more than most...
Usually when I need a watch strap it is an emergency and I hit the closest mall kiosk...
Not this time....On monday I ordered a Primium Nato from Crown & Buckle and on Wednesday...
What about 70, 75, 80, 85, & 90? Those sound like important milestones....I mean if 12 and 15 made it, I think 80, 85, and 90 should definitely be in he running....lol!
Went in to downtown Seattle....man, I saw quite a few....There were a number of street musicians and almost all of them were wearing either porkpies or nice fur felt fedoras...Other than that I saw one guy with a leather fedora and a few young hipster looking cats in Gorrin Bros looking stingy...
