Jay Lord
Supposed 7 1/2 Jay Lord.
Well, I don't know if it's really a 7 1/2. I did ask the seller, and they offered some assurances, but no real measurements. I threw in a pretty low bid, and ended up winning it for a mere $44, shipped.
No idea about the Jay Lord brand or the...
For sale is a like new Christy's fur felt foldaway trilby (fedora), size 7 5/8. This is a very nice hat, the only reasonable option I know of for a truly packable fur felt these days. I got the lightest color they made when I bought this from Hornet Hats last year... don't remember what the...
Wow
That looks like a stunner. I did not see it... thank god.
EDIT- Never mind... it's a 7 1/4. I thought it was a 7 1/2. That's a little steep for the size.

Nice!
I agree completely. Hats in mainstream media are a good thing. I don't care if there's a little taper, or the ribbons aren't vintage enough, or even if they're wool! I like it!
Still bugs me the way Jon Hamm wears his on Mad Men, though... ;)

I agree
Wear and enjoy. You could put a little tape on the backside, just to ensure that it doesn't get much worse. I have done that, using that blue masking tape stuff.

It's Personal
It's dependent on what you like and how your particular melon is shaped. I wear mine almost touching my right ear, and about a finger above my left.

Great!
Awesome... thanks.
He was tiny li'l guy, wasn't he? There's a great Orson Welles quote about Cagney... I paraphrase:
"The key to acting is TRUTH. That's not the same as being realistic. There isn't a human ever who behaved like Cagney does on film, but you cannot find a single...
I've done it
I have to lightly stretch all three Johnnyhi hats I purchased- more to get them to fit my long oval than anything.
I've had good luck, but I have a whole hat stretcher. I dunk that hat in cool water, and then let it dry on my stretcher overnight before wearing it to a final...
Dents
I tried it without dents, and didn't like it as well. I'll try to get a pic taken soon.
As for the shades, Wil... I can't do it 'cause they ain't mine! That is a picture of my hero, Truman Capote.
Thanks again,
Anj
Barbisio
Here I am in the first homburg I ever liked on my own noggin. Makes me think I should have tried some side dents on the others... maybe I'd still own that lovely, dark blue Cavanagh.

Cool!
Thanks for the comments, all. Nice to hear you all think it works pretty well.
Here's a shot a little more dressed up. You're right... I would probably wear it out with a jacket, or tie and suspenders, or something.
Still self-taken, so you can't get the full-length, but maybe it...
I have now owned three homburgs. The first two I just didn't think worked for me. Both of those ended up in the capable hands of Tonyb.
But, I recently acquired a third from our own Cookie, and I think this one has potential. It's a lovely gray Barbisio, and I think it kinda suits me...
Depp's hat is awesome. The proportions on his hat are so perfect.
Guesses on the hat's proportions? I was thinking the crown might be close to 5 inches, with a brim of no more than 2 1/4... maybe just 2.
