Okay, so I guess my thread got merged...
The nomenclature of the "bag" I want is irrelevant. so let's try and refrain from what we call it and how that makes us feel: it's a bag, and I'm still a man when I carry one, and by changing the name from "bag" to "briefcase" to "messenger bag" or...
I'm looking for a vintage leather over the shoulder bag. I don't want anything casual or canvas. The bag doesn't have to be from the 40's but the older the better. Right now I'm just trying to get some ideas, so if anyone has one or has photos of one, I would love to take a look.
Thanks.
I think different resources reach different needs. I'm sure most people don't visit the lounge expecting to encounter life changing ideas. The lounge serves a different purpose for most.
Men's Shoulder Bag/Briefcase
I've seen some threads with a similar theme, and if this is redundant, please point me to the correct archive:
I would love to see photos and suggestions of some vintage men's over the shoulder bags/briefcases.
Thanks All!
Any recommendations? I saw Private Ryan, Band of Brothers, Enemy at the Gates, and some major ones. I feel like seeing not so much a war flick, but a war flick with a great plot. (If that makes sense?)
Thanks All!
I don't sweat much from my armpits. Also, I'm a drummer, and I sweat when I play--can' help it--but the tank keeps my clothes clean, and makes me feel fresh, something a t-shirt couldn't do for me.
I saw the preview for this tonight. It's interesting--it seems like the type of movie that can only do well as a period piece. It seems like it relies on a lot of 30's cultural assumptions for its success, but imagine the film in a more modern setting; I don't think it would be nearly as...
I just saw this Saturday. It is such a well-crafted movie. The cinemotography, lighting, soundtrack, dialogue--every element that contributes to a film's success was stellar! The way the story is told--especially in the begining of the movie--is creative and suspenseful. Simply fabulous! Don't...
It's funny because this notion of forgetting the details about a Hitchcock film is his genius and his curse. There's a beautiful Hitchcock quote where he says "the terror is not in the bang, but in the anticipation of it." Somewhere else he says that, a surprise is knowing a bomb is under a...
Okay, I bought Sweet Smell of Sucess and Angels with Dirty Faces; however, after reading Roeper's reveiw of the some other movies, I'll be returning in the near future for Pickpocket, Strangers on a Train, and Rear Window.
Thanks for the feedback, everyone!
Thanks for all the generous feedback, everyone. So, do you feel Sweet Smell lives up to the rave reviews? I've been leaning toward that, and debating between Angels and Rear Window.
Thanks again!
Okay, I'm hoping you loungers who love film can give me some advice.
Borders has a 3 for 2 movie deal; I'm buying the Bourne Ultimatum for the first film, but which two of the following should I get:
Rear Window
Sweet Smell of Success
Angels with Dirty Faces
The Postman Always Rings...
I always wear a "tank shirt" under my shirts. It absorbs any perspiration, and in the winter it keeps me warm. The term "wife-beater" has got to be one of the more embarrassing slang (and perhaps culturally revealing) to develop in America, but nevertheless, I wear the tank style shirt because...
Thanks for the replies. I should clarify, I don't mean holiday decorated interiors, but just Art Deco (30-40's homes).
Thanks All! I get a real thrill from watching films that have great interior spaces. PBS showed a Sherlock Holmes episode on Master Piece theater a while back, and the...
