Blondie,
I was just getting ready to post my lulu beauty pic when I saw your post and of course, I had to run off and try to find a picture :) There is one on ebay right now and they state it is a tangerine red with pink pearl. How do you keep track of all your reds? My system is to swatch...
Lulu Beauty? Has anyone tried this brand? On a whim, I ordered their lipstick in Gene from Sephora but it hasn't arrived yet. Some reviews seem very complimentary and describe it as very moisturizing and suggest it best worn with lipliner...
Those are pretty cute, PDM! I hope you can find the size that will fit just right.
I can see there are alot of shoes I need to catch up on in here. I've been drooling over these shoes for months and time to share:

Here is a cute leopard print bag:

If I had seen this when I was looking (and didn't mind sacrificing my back for fashion), I might have bought one of these because I adore the 2 tone look...
I love your Christmas treasures! Especially your little houses. I have several packets of glass glitter that have been sitting around the house for years that were intended to make houses and ornaments but somehow it keeps getting put off.
I am not so lucky to have any vintage ornaments...
Hi Ruby,
If you mean the heavy plain brown paper for packages, you can get postal wrap at staples or office depot. They also have kraft wrapping paper. I really like that thin brown/tan package wrap you get on international packages but don't know where to find any stateside. Maybe Michael's...
I haven't tried the line yet but I believe it is from the same people as the Bliss Spa or at least by the founder, Marcia Kilgore. I have always liked the Bliss products so I'll probably give these a try, too.
Emmababy: I haven't tried any of them but I think some of the ladies in the red lipstick thread have recommended it.
I was just posting one of my latest finds here and thought I might add it to this thread as well because I love seeing all the beautiful reds:
Nars Fire Down Below
Grnidwitch: Russet Moon (chanel) is a staple for me. I feel very mexican revolutionary in it. I don't know why but I always associate some mood/personality to each red. I would wear it every day but it is so drying to my lips.
Blondie: I am not doing it justice (I think it is richer looking)...
Phytodefrisant Botanical Hair Relaxing Balm
Phytodefrisant is a relaxing balm for all hair types, naturally curly or permed hair. Ferula, horseradish, and garlic extracts coat and straighten hair without any chemical action. The non-oily formula won't weaken hair. Imparts shine as hair...
I really need to stop buying reds but I just can't stop. There are so many more that I want to try...especially KittyT's favorite MAC Rage.
Recent purchases:
Make-Up Forever 207 - Cherry Red
Nars Fire Down Below
Also in my arsenal: Chanel Russet Moon, Lola Bitten, MAC Russian Red...
Another alternative for the card file would be a Bates Listfinder, the original rolodex. The refills are practically non-existant so if you find one with a full set of unmarked inserts I would snatch it up! eBay Search tip: bates "list finder" or bates listfinder.
I have two cavalier models...
BeBopBaby,
This site has some relatively nice shades: http://www.specialtylampshades.com/catalog/uno_floor___shade_screws_onto_socket__193810_products.htm

Hi Brian,
On the website I listed, this is the correct period shade:
According to wikipedia, the center light can probably be up to 150 watt and the surrounding bulbs 60w or less.

Best wishes on completing your beautiful lamp!
I think the white glass part is the reflector. Check out this page:

and scroll down to the Vintage Traditional 3-Candelabra, center Mogul Floor Lamp for an example of an appropriate lampshade.

ps. If you have any lamp/lighting...
geek alert!
I admit this maybe sacrilege but a friend and I have been discussing for days what it would take to convert a vintage phone from rotary to cellular. A fanciful dream of mine and wouldn't you know it someone out there has already done it?
At $399.00 (!) it's just a bit too steep...
doghouse, hopefully you will prevail. It sounds like it would such a wonderful keepsake. since the overall cost seems prohibitive, i was thinking perhaps you might also enquire at costume rental shops or local theater companies.
ohairas, your son and styling are beautiful as ever.
and just...
For anyone interested... there is a very nice article in the current issue (#18) of Selvedge magazine on the history of the sailor suit for youths.
