Nashoba,
We finally visited last weekend and it was really impressive. I would like to join you in encouraging others to visit and also share some of the pictures I took:
Went to the new Marine Musuem in Quantico, Va this past weekend... An interesting line up of cars in the parking lot:
I drive a 2005 legend lime mustang (not shown).
I have horrible memories of pumice stoning my legs when I was younger - all for naught. ::shudder::
But as far as the topic at hand, I swear by diamancel foot buffers and use one of OPI's Pedicure soak/soften/scrubs beforehand.
I also like having a polished set ot toes (especially in the...
I didn't think I still used much until I started thinking about the kitchen. Not a whole lot has changed in the last century there:
King Arthur Flour (1790)
Mortons Kosher Salt (1848)
Rumford Baking Powder (1950)
ARM & HAMMER Baking Soda (1846)
Nielsen-Massey Vanilla (1907)
Band-Aids...
I can never be loyal to just one red these days it seems but Chanel Rouge Star (No 22) was my signature red for years. It was either renamed in the US or discontinued. One day I stopped to pick up a tube and it was gone. I've done searches and it still comes up on various Japanese and French...
Kim,
I was looking through fabrics on-line and remembered your plight.
Here is a link that has 1/4", 1/8" and 1/16" cotton-poly gingham. The 1/8" gingham is $2.89/yd and they have it in orange (was it really peach?). I haven't purchased from them before but it might be worth checking out...
If you can sew or know someone who can, look for older (80's?) Butterick patterns 4244 & 4246. I think the number has been recycled along the line so be sure they are the childrens patterns. or maybe another of the pattern companies has one out?
Hello & welcome to all,
I have not always understood history so well but have always been in love with things from the past. Arts & crafts, nouveau, deco, modernist, mid-century, retro, you name it but not really loyal to any one era - just whatever works. Up until recently I mainly focused...
Barbara, I was seduced into buying the weekender bag pattern several months ago but haven't worked up the nerve to make it yet. Still have the cabo halter in my to do pile and my sister wants one too.
The problems I have heard from the weekender bag is it can be a pain to sew through the many...
"...I am sixteen, going on seventeen" </sound of music>
Sorry, the song just popped in my head. I am 36 going on 37 doesn't quite have the same ring to it. But it is true.
Maybe the Land's End Fine Gauge Cardigans? I was just looking at sweaters/twin sets and was thinking of picking one of these up. Has anybody tried them?

doghouse,
still can't remember the catalog but found this site with a whole section of sailor and nautical outfits:

RAF Man,
Wikipedia seems to think it was due to a engravings & portraits of Albert Edward, Prince of Wales in 1846.

"In 1846, the four-year-old Albert Edward, Prince of Wales was given a scaled-down version of the uniform worn by ratings on the...
Miss Dottie & Miss Bella, one of my small tote purses is a black Harveys seatbelt, too. Very fun. Dahlia, I'm sure they have them in pink as well. I think I've seen them at Nordstroms, too if you like to check them out in person.
Yesterday, I got to thinking about my ugly wheeled computer tote...
That was exactly my reaction when I saw the second purse in the sale racks of Nordstrom a few years back. It is a Michael Kors Saranac purse and if I never buy another purse other than this one, I will be fine because the picture I have doesn't do it justice and just because it makes me happy...
Well, I've recently cleaned out my purse so this should be relatively painless.
Mobile, keys, sunglasses, id wallet, coin purse, moleskine notebook, pen (one I don't mind losing), mirror, pocket comb, lipstick & clear gloss (molton brown lipsaver) & citrus tic tacs or other hard candy/mint...
There's a color I'm trying from lola cosmetics called Bitten that might just be the thing for you.
Their website lists http://www.powdersandpotions.com/brand/Lola+Cosmetics.html as carrying the brand in the UK.
eta: the brand is L-o-l-a, one word, no hyphens but for some reason it comes up...
