    Going back to the book, the Model 36 "no dash" was produced from 1957 with a serial number of 125000, to 1966. If the grips are original to the gun, then it was manufactured after 1968, when they dropped the "diamond" from around the grip screw. And I just remembered about pinning the barrel...

    The only date I could find was 1983. This is the year listed in the book that a number preceded the "J". However, the there are 5 digits that follow the J, so that doesn't jive with your number. The J prefix began in1969 with serial number J1. Hopefully someone with more knowledge can narrow...

    Haunted History: The Torso Murders. This was apparently the last law enforcement case that Elliot Ness was involved with. He applied a heavy hand against a shanty town that was in proximity to where some of the bodies were found. There was public outcry against Ness, but the murders stopped.

    I just ordered these on Amazon. American Optical 52mm with green lenses. Not Vintage of course, but I wanted a pair of sunglasses to replace the "modern" ones I've been wearing. The design has been around since 1958. Wish I could figure out how to make my images larger.

    That is a nice one however I was looking for brown with a wider brim. Do you find a 59 a better fit, or is there stretching involved? I only have one hat and it's a 60. It is loose as well, but thought it may be the make as opposed to the size.
