Just have to join the gang here and say "Lovely.....":eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap That looks like my sorta hat!
I've become really enamoured of the wide'ish pinch and brim-up look, initially inspired by some of HBart's postings. So thanks for that..... ;)

+1! Very nice indeed, Zetwal :cool:
Mario, I join you in coveting both a Vagabond and a Playboy. Have just got my first Playboy, but would love to get others, especially in the light weight felt variety such as Zetwal's beauty above. Oh, and a nice Dobbs Cross Country too...
FFF: I assume that it is my post above that you are referring to here - I was actually commenting on how nicely these 1920's illustrations were done with respect to anatomy and proportions, and how it is the Apparel Arts/Esquire pictures (especially in the 40's) that are the more distorted...
Final Bump.....
Lovely hat, in very good condition. Hanover Squares seem to be getting some good press lately, so now's your chance to own a piece of the action!
Open to reasonable offers.
Aureliano: Hope you're not starting to regret selling me that Ontano (Alder) Borso that I got from you a few months back.....;)
It is a really nice colour, isn't it? Rest assured it's getting plenty of head time, plus lots of complimentary remarks from the good citizens of Edinburgh!:cool...
Ho yes, the attractions of cheap (M&S) linen..... :eusa_doh::eusa_doh:

Still keep my...
Hmmm, so living as I do in sunny Scotland, where it rarely seems to make it very far into the 20's, there really is no point owning the four linen (or silk/linen mix) suits that I have?
Oh well, maybe there's something in the British psyche that goes very deep, to do with visions of Empire and...
Also interesting to note that the majority of the single breasted 'Vests' are five button, not six as is often seen as the requisite number for a 'proper' vest.....
Yeah, I fully get that - it just sort of messes with my  'highly-tuned aesthetic sensibilities' to look at all those illustrations of people with huge shoulders, tiny heads and such very long legs.....

Very nice, Mario - will come back to this one again and again, I think! Love the 'Vest Styles' page, especially the button arrangement on no.836..... Also nice to see these illustrations done straightforwardly - i.e. not too anatomically distorted (as in a lot of the Esquire illustrations from...
Dobbs Hanover Square, light grey felt with black ribbon and silver edge binding. Size 7LO US. Very good condition, no marks or bites.
£40~ (GBP) plus postage. Could throw in a Dobbs box - octagonal, black with yellow graphics - if wanted (quite large - may increase the postage costs!)...
Definitely depends on the proportions of the hat, so no hard and fast rules - I'll go by what just 'looks right' to me..... but I admit to being very partial to the 1 1/8th inch width ribbons on my two Borsalinos.
Generally not so struck by thin ribbons (I know, I know - heresy! But hey, I...
