Yes, there seems to have been a miscommunication between the warehouse and the sales depts. They ended up promising stuff to people that they didin't have.
They were going to send me a credit note or a refund cheque, which of course would have been useless to me over in the UK. So I called...
I don't know a lot about A2's but that looks great!
Will they make it to your measurements? Or is that a off the rack size? I like how it fits anyway.
And the nice graining in the dips of the wrinkles!
Very nice.
Now, doesn't that look great! If one of those had fitted me I would have snapped it up straight away! I am debating with myself aboutgetting one of his horsehides. The horse he has right now is really nice and about as supple the goat.
No history at all, there are a couple that showed the bloom after they got really cold during the winter and that may be one of the reasons he discontinued it as soon as he found out. Along with the fact they couldn't supply big enough skins for our huskier jacket fans. If he gave you a can of...
The Wested goatskin jackets from that batch have a 'glazed' shiny look to them. One way you can try to get rid of that and get some quick aging is to shower them with hot water (easier if you have one of those hand held shower heads). You don't have to soak it through. Just enough to get it wet...
I had it sent to a friend in the US and he re-routed it to me in the UK. (Joint shipping about $55, beats the $160 they were going to charge me). I did get in very early on the deal.
My bad, I wasn't very careful laying it out, it has a correct storm flap. The zipper is a bit scratchy. It is...
Just one for size comparison
Here are the sizes for the small A-2 goat I received. I feel the sleeves are too baggy and it runs big for a size small.
Oh, and the floor of my studio has seen better days.
I don't have much experience with bovine hides, but i got a sample from them... it's still here further down the Jacket section. The steer appears very flexible but it is 2-2/5 times thicker than the horsehide and has a really regular grain on it. It looks like the grain you get on those plastic...
Mmm, I not sure what's happening with Gemma is these days, she seems to promise people samples and they don't arrive. I know that she just puts them in an envelope (I've had some from her like that) and the envelope gets mangled in our wonderful post system. Take my advice and phone between 5...
I had them send me some samples too, the steerhide must be at least twice the thickness of the horsehide. At nearly half the price.
Not having had an A-2 ever I don't know if I will like it, and am really balking at spending £360 (on a horsehide) on something I don't know if I will like...
Hi welcome aboard.
If you want an Indy Jacket absolutely they are the worth it. You never find a custom fitted jacket elsewhere for the price.
If you want an A-2 repro i think you probably need to look elsewhere. They are good enough for screen use, but I suppose not enough for the...
Indeed it's all about context. $100 (inc shipping) is a complete steal.
As for pricings, the Wested runs to about $325 including shipping to the US at todays rates. ;) $450-500 would be the G&B.
I've got a US Wings A-2 on the way to me via a third party. It's costing me $135 as I've got to...
Does anyone know if Cooper is now defunct? Have they decided to quit being a retailer and moved into manufacturing only?
What is their relationship with US Wings, do they have any common employees and what is the mechanism for Wings selling their old Indy Jacket and some of their A-2's (I...
I asked a contact of mine in the US to phone then a couple of weeks ago and he tried for 3 days to get info on 1 clearance jacket out of them to no avail.
Maybe they are doing some sort of massive stocktake. Like a 10 year clearout or something.
Dark brown goat, chocolate steer and russet horse for those of you who are contemplating a jacket from them. Of these three the steer is the thickest, next is the goat and thinnest is the horse (but only just).
The steer is quite stretchy, the goat not, and the horse supple and easily creased.
I like how this leather is aging. Is it the tanning process or the type of leather that makes it do this? Is the creasing characteristic of any particular leather? I think it may be horse?
