The set of bubble lamps that I have belonged to my parents. Every year we put the lamps out when I was a child. I loved them when I was a kid. I was so happy when I found them stashed in my parents basement around 10 years ago. My hubby and I put them out every year with our other vintage...
After some searching, I found an online picture of the bubble lamps. I have a matching set of these, but the cat broke one of the glass shades last year.
And yes - they're just as tacky in person.
Are you referring to my post or another?
If so, what I described are bubble lights, but they do not hang on a tree. They are bubble lights that screw into a hurricane lamp base and stand on their own.
I have a set of vintage bubble light hurricane lamps and I've never seen another set like them. I've been trying to find out more info about them, but couldn't find anything on the site you posted. Darn! Does anyone know of any other bubble light resources?
Nico, I think this cardigan is very correct. Even if it isn't, so what! It's cute. Fair Isle patterned cardigans are very traditional. I like the cut of the cardigan also. It seems like all of the cardigans that I find are very boxy in shape.
The picture of liberty is not wearing a flag as clothing, she's wearing red, white and blue clothing which is different. Uncle Sam also wears similar clothing, but they are not flags. I think that's where the difference is. Interesting nonetheless, thanks for posting! :)
Just to state the other view, my husband is a veteran and he gets very bothered when he sees the U.S. flag not being treated with the guidelines outlined in the flag code. To him, it's a symbol of millions of peoples sacrifice and it should be treated with due respect. But to each his own. I...
Grant Fan - those are lovely pin-up pictures, but can I please give you one comment. Using the U.S. flag as draping (this includes over yourself or furniture) or using it as clothing is considered disrespectful of the flag. It is also disrepectful to let it touch the ground. It always bothers...
One of the things I love to collect is cookbooks. I have a huge weakness for Golden Era cookbooks (especially depression-era Jello cookbooks) and often cook from them. I also love to bake using my grandmother's and great-grandmothers recipes. Besides golden era, I also like to cook over open...
I must confess, I'm slighty creeped out by the grown women I've worked with who have Winnie the Pooh and Eyore plastered all over their clothing and possessions.
Now that the holiday season has started and I'm preparing to start my holiday baking, I thought I would start a thread where we can share our favorite golden age baking recipes from vintage cookbooks or recipes that have been passed down through the generations of your family. Let me start with...
Could you share the recipe please? I'm curious because I've been to Melton Mowbray. It's also the home of stilton cheese. I had the most delicious stilton cheese with cranberries in it there. Now I'm making myself hungry!
Jake is correct out bottled water vs. tap water.
A lot of the empty plastic water bottles end up in landfills. With tap water, you don't have this problem, the carbon footprint is much smaller.
Also advertisements, labels and packaging of bottled water is misleading. Two big brands of...
I like lapsang souchong tea (I believe it is also called Russian caravan). It is very stout and has a strong smokey and earthy flavor that reminds me of a peat fire. I also like to drink black assam tea.
I drink my tea straight. I enjoy the astringent qualities and the flavor of tea and don't...
Big Man, What are the little things (with the X-shaped sides and cross bars between the Xs) set at the tops of the dinner plates? I'm curious as to what they are used for, are they knife rests so you don't have to put the knives down on the table?
Does anyone know if these shoes run small? I normally wear a size 9, but from the looks of the wedge sizing chart of the remix website, I should order at least a size 10. Should I just stick with my usual shoe size of 9 or go up to a 10? thanks!
We had that 2 years ago. The sky turned that weird color it does before something big like a hurricane hits and the atmosphere was charged from all the electricity. I was commuting at the time and I asked my husband to pick me up at the trolly stop because I didn't want to walk in it because...
