Speaking of rare and drool worthy 1920's garments, does anyone go to this website? http://www.thefrock.com/, I book marked it and make regular visits to drool over their beautiful garments. I thought of buying one on layaway. There is one that they have that is a pumpkin silk with "panniers"
I want THIS jacket...where can I get one like it?!
Any have an idea where I can get a marabou (?) coat like this, I would DIE for one, even if it was a reproduction.
Was it something that was " high" style, and worn only in Paris and other avant garde places, or was it pretty widely worn, its just not a style that looked it would have been worn by the adverage lady from a small town in the midwest.
Personally I don't care what other people wear, everyone has a right to express themselves through fashion. Personally I am not big into repos that are specifically copies of vintage clothing because they lack the history that a vintage piece has, I do although like modern pieces that emulate...
I don't think a gal can ever own too many dresses. I pratically live in dresses, both modern and vintage, I think as long as a gal can afford to keep buying, she can have as many dresses as she can afford and to store.
You could go on Ebay, the price point for a lot of 1920's is pretty low compared to retail prices, you could also look for some dresses from the 1960's and 1970s. I have seen a lot of 1970's dresses that could pass for a 1930's dress, since that era came back into style really strongly in the 70's.
