If you can't find any local classes in your area, they have how to videos on sites like you tube where professionals will show you how to retro hair and makeup. There are a ton of them. Good luck!
I am pretty minimal with the makeup. Since LA is so casual, and I dress casual/modern on an everyday basis, I tend to be pretty basic, I tend to just wear foundation, lip gross, and a little bit of bronzer or blush, I don't wear powder since I am pretty dry skin. If I am going out, especially to...
Old fashioned (or new fashioned) tricks for dry sensative skin.
I was wondering if anyone could suggest any products for dry skin, sensative on the face. During the winter, my skin gets so dry and no amount of moisturizer/night cream helps it, the only products I have found to work are those...
I am very partial to both cities. I was born and raised in SF, but live in and love LA equally. When I think of noir though, I always think of Los Angeles, maybe because it makes me think of Raymond Chandler, maybe because of the many Art Deco era buildings here, there are not that many in SF.
If there is a thread about zippers already please let me know...
If not, here is my question...
I know enough about vintage clothing to know most zippers started to appear in clothing in the late thirties/early forties, but what is the earliest zippers were used in vintage clothing? I have...
I found a great 1920's piece like this, it came from Its a Wrap in Burbank and came from Warner Bros costuming depeartment, the top part is like a slip/cami and then bottom part is like a skirt, its pretty long, maybe about four or five inches past the knee.
I'd have to say I agree, if I had an old house, it would be completely decked out in antiques. I am kind of doing the opposite in mine, my apartment is newer (midcentury, built in '51), but inside you would think you would have stepped in to the 1930's.
I had an amazing find yesterday, after feeling kind of down in the dumps, I headed over to Goodwill and shifted through the racks, while scouring through the blouses, I came upon a little beaded blouse, I thought surely it must be new because it is in perfect condition, but as I gazed at the...
SassyLinda, I like the color of your hair.
I don't think it takes an ideal body type to wear a certain style, I think anyone can really wear any era, because like someone said before, there was people of every size in every era. Ideal body types were just ideal, chances are like today, most...
I was trying to go for that full snood at the nape of the neck look, don't have enough "filler" though. Maybe I could some of those hair clip thingys that they sell at the mall and just do it with that.
I'm about a 32D-26-35 like a modern 2/4, so most dresses from the 1930's fit great, since I have more of an hour glass shape. The 1920's work except for sometimes in the bust, but for some reason I always have to take stuff from the 1940's in. I have really narrow feet, so sometimes the shoes...
