Hydrox Cookies Back for Limited Time!

But will they really be made from the originial recepie, or will they be full of high fructose corn syrup and other crud. I hope it's the former, but somehow, I doubt it. I didn't know they were gone either, but I pretty much avoid store-bought cookies and candy these days.

Hats and vintage: With or without Indy?

I'm with Freebird on this. I never watched the movies, although from the bits and pieces I've seen flipping through the television channels, they look interesting enough. I'm just not a big movie watcher. I have a short attention span and bore easily. I found a cheap fedora in a department...

Will it be available at Barnes and Noble? Oops, I should have read the above post.

    National Day of Prayer?

Pray all you want, and to what, or whoever you want, for whatever you want. That's your business. But, keep your religion out of my life. That includes not enacting laws based on your religious beliefs. The problem with religion is most of it's proponents aren't content to keep their beliefs...

Iwo Jima Vet's irked by Time magazine

While this probably gets close to the line in the sand labeled "politics," yea, it is hooey. Many climate fluctuations have been identified during the course of recorded history, and many dire predictions (mostly about the coming ice age) have been made during my lifetime (50-odd years) and...

Iwo Jima Vet's irked by Time magazine

With the utmost respect dhermann1, I'm glad my uncle, who was in the first wave of Marines to land on Iwo Jima, isn't around to see this. The absolute hell he experienced there affected him the rest of his life. In spite of earning a professional degree on the GI bill, he died in the early 90s...

    Kirby Vacuums

My parents had one that was older than I (1956). As I recall, it was around until about 1970 when they moved into a hose with a central vaccuum system.

Delahaye USA to build modern replicas of 1930s classics

Hey, some of us are working on bringing a small plane to market that IS stylish! And...if that project is successful, I NEED one of these to drive to the airport, oh yea! Just what I didn't need-another machine to lust after!!!

    Remember slide shows?

I used to use these for sales presentations. I'd get so wound up in my narration, I once went through about half of a 20 or so slide presentation with the slides upside down. Nobody pointed it out until I was halfway through.

When The Old Days Come A-Knocking

A few years ago, I was writing out a check and for reasons completely unknown to me, wrote "1947" for the date. Heck, I wasn't even born in 1947. I still wonder where that came from. And no, I wasn't thinking of that time period when it happened.

TVLand; Going the way of A&E and AMC?

All of these networks have figured out that Americans will sit for hours and watch a test pattern. They don't care about the audience, just the advertising revenue (heck, when I was a kid I was all excited because "cable TV" was supposed to be commercial free and supported entirely by viewer...

Who's On First For the 21st Century

Took me a long time to figure that out. Kept turning off the power and getting the "blue screen of death" when I turned it back on. I'm too darn old to think like a computer geek.

Let's Talk About The Fedora Lounge

I came for the hats, stayed for the cigars, and was really hooked when I found a few folks to talk to about old airplanes. I kinda like it the way it is. I don't have to read the fluff threads, but just remember, what's fluff to me is an exciting topic to someone else, and vice versa.

What is your favorite aircraft of all time?

Much as I'd love to have one, I can buy around 10 Aztec Nomads for the price! Also, From what some operators of Amphib Caravans have said, they're prone to cracking in the firewall area due to the stresses of water landings and T.Os. And, it's not really very vintage looking. Now, if you...

What is your favorite aircraft of all time?

Hey, if you've got the bucks, go for it! Too rich for my blood though. Aztec Nomad = similar performance for, oh, $2,000,000 less! And, alot more options when one engine quits.

What is your favorite aircraft of all time?

For all you lovers of big seaplanes a few posts back... While not as grand as the DC3 on floats, check out the Aztec Nomad www.aztecnomad.com - a Piper Aztec on amphibious floats. While only a six seater, the Aztec is a fairly large aircraft for it's type (compared to a Beech Baron or a Cessna...
