Brush query
Hi all,
Regarding hat brushes... I read somewhere once that one should have a light coloured brush for light coloured hats, and vice versa for dark coloured hats. Does it really make a difference?
I need to sort out a new hat brush (had the aforementioned set but they were...
I was watching one of the many dancing shows that are shown on the BBC (okay - Mrs. Matei was watching it), when I noticed that during a retro-inspired routine, all the dancers had "properly" cut suits, ie high armholes, high-waisted trousers with a nice bit of flair etc.
Where on earth do...
I'll throw my £.02 in...
When I was in the service (US 1995 - 2001), I had the standard issue leather boots, a pair of the Corcoran field boots and a pair of jungle boots - the latter were no longer issued but we were allowed to wear them all the same.
Out of all of them, the best were my...
Hi - it is indeed the standard length. The only thing that I do differently is that I cinch the belt in the back, as shown to me by another poster here on the FL. Otherwise it takes ages to fasten the belt.
There is too much "coat" to let it just hang otherwise.
I've got the standard wool...
The current style is due to end production in 2012 or 2013 I read. Very sad... :(
Some of the "artist concepts" that have been floating around are enough to make you ill.
Great picture indeed Ben! How does it handle in the snow - it must be quite light, no? I'd imagine that it must be very good in this weather.
I used to take my MG roadster out in the snow (well, I had no choice it was my only car), and it never got stuck. Because it was fairly light it would...
In light of the recent thread on wearing a Barnstormer in the snow... I can report that it holds up very well indeed. I wore it in Romania over the Christmas holidays, where it got down to -25C. It did a good job on stopping the wind, although I did layer it with a t-shirt and a jumper...
Like the other post said, although this incarnation of the Defender is a more modern machine than it's forebears, it is still much more primitive than the other vehicles nowadays and harkens back to an older time. :)
I also think that the camaraderie of the Land Rover owners is something...
The Smeg products look great. We were *this* close to getting a Smeg fridge, however upon doing some research it seems that their build quality and reliability is not good at all.
A friend at work has a Smeg fridge and some other bits, and he tried to warn us away as well. He has had...
I've been doing the dishes by hand for ages... I used to help my mother every now and then, and when I joined the Army I had no choice - every two weeks I'd do it on KP.
Once I got married I made a deal with my wife - she could cook as much or as little as she wanted, and I would always wash...
Here is my second post in this thread... I've just taken delivery of a vehicle that, although it was made in 2009, has basically the same principles as the ones that first rolled off the line back in 1948! I'm talking about the venerable Land Rover Defender!
While mine might have update...
I wear mine in snow and ice (although we don't get much of either where I live in the UK), they did OK - in light of the fact that there is absolutely no sole pattern!
To my surprise I wasn't falling all over the place.
Indeed - that is what I look for as well in a drinking establishment. Sadly they're hard to find.
There are several nice pubs within walking distance of our flat, however they tend to be too noisy.
