so i sent the poor thing off to chi-town after reading this thread.here is how it came back.
brim:2 7/8" down from 3" but sort of Amish looking
turned up all the way around.
ribbon: 1 1/2" up from the thin ribbon maybe 1/4 that came with it
and the color seems to be sort...
disaster strikes
changing the crease from open range to a teardrop wasn't so hard thanks to JTL's workshop but while i was working on the brim i got the leather hat band soaked and it turned into a cracked-up mess, but i was still proud of what i had going so far and wore it while i B.B.Q ed at...
my optimo conversion
i bid on a C.B. thinking it was an O.R. and i was so happy when i won it off ebay for just $22.00 U.S.
thankfully folks on the fedora lounge set me straight. so i figured why not convert it my self.
first lets look at it the way i got it in the mail.
my guess was the guy is bidding it up himself with another account , and was just stuck selling the same hat over and over because he wont pay himself. if anyone is falling for this it really is sad...in a funny way.
i found a framed copy of this pic in a flea market today i had to share it with folks that i knew would appreciate it.
of course curly is sporting the porkpie.
thanks lefty
i planed to convert it perhaps i can cut down the brim some while im at it.
By the way i love the way yours turned out Mr. E Train that's the sort of look im hoping to get .
good deal?
i just got this one for 22.50 is there a reason it went so cheap ?

very interested
my hat size is right between 7 1/8 and 7 1/4
to be precise 57.5 cm or 22 3/5 inches i need to know if the hat is small for 7 1/8 or large, and the brim size also please .
ok i got the first hat up on ebay, not as hard to do as i thought. i posted a link to it in the classifieds.http://www.thefedoralounge.com/forumdisplay.php?f=16
i set the price low so someone can put it to use instead of it wasting away on my hat-rack.
its used but in very nice condition.
a nice warm heavy felt hat its just to small for me.
the price tag lists it at $45 and says the color is Sfinge (translates to sphinx)...
great thanks again, ill be listing it as soon as i can figure out how to. its a waist for me to keep it. off topic is this borso rabbit ?
im not selling it but i value your opinion.
thanks lefty your the best, still i wonder what style to call it i know its not a homburg, is calling it a fedora stretching the definition ?
p.s. i had no idea borsalino wasn't beaver felt the more i post here the more i learn.
is it a lords hat?
it molds like clay
the felt is a long haired
a tag i couldn't get a shot of says SFINGY $45
SFINGY is not a typo its on the reproduce tag also
maybe its an alpine.
if anyone wants more pics any angle or whatever let me know its to small and i plan to sell it...
designers hate models and want to see how far they can go and still keep a straight face.
PROOF
pee wee Herman here gives it his best shot
this poor guy winds up with sad puppy eyes
and finally this one gives up the struggle all together
p.s the rest did yeomans work
some poor gent in a P.G. Woodehouse novel lost his hat in some or another misadventure so he went to a cottage to barrow one no one was home so he did the only reasonable thing , he broke into the place to snag a hat so as not to be seen walking around with a naked dome.
