i was just watching millers crossing and thinking all their hats were a mess , it seems they didnt pay the kind of attention to their hats when they were more common as we do today.
Alot depends on who is wearing it too, i bet Bogie could make a ballcap look cool.

yes that crest seems to match , i didnt see any others in maroon ether , i wonder if these colored liners were just used in the 50s or what. so much to learn.

Perfect from what i can tell this hat is from the early 50s.
Im supper happy because the photos and description on ebay were not very helpful and i didnt know enough to be able to tell. in short i got lucky in my first venture into the absorbing world of vintage fur felt hats. :D
