Hi!
I really think these are a good starting place, and they definitely have a period vibe. For a more authentic look I'm going to give a few suggestions- hope you don't mind!
I have a 1950's pattern almost IDENTICAL to this one. I would just suggest shortening the sleeve length (on the...
It looks fantastic! You'd never know it was a nursery print!
And OT, but Drappa, I was seriously JUST looking through a Vogue magazine from '53 and saw the image that is your icon! I was wondering why it looked familiar... :D
I remember my mom warning me against prints when I picked up sewing more, because she said you'd have to match them. Honestly, I think most of the time, unless they're really spread out or a plaid or stripe, that you really don't notice. Look at all the ready to wear clothing, and they don't...
Hi!
I think that fabric should work fine! It's not so spread out that you would have to worry about matching patterns or anything, so I wouldn't stress. It will be cute!
I would probably just cut the pieces all in one direction... doubled if you can so cutting would be faster- but what I mean...
Jenniferose7, that looks so fabulous! Great fabric! Is it vintage? And many thanks for the compliment :D Yours is the first one I've seen made up of this and I'm thrilled! Looks so great!!
Everyone's creations are divine!!
Dpd, love those beach pjs!

I don't know if you have time, but Olvera Street has some shops with cheap Spanish style combs, fringey shawls and mantillas, and the like :)
Also, Ethos on Santee in the Garment District has beaded purses, cut velvet shawls and wraps, and other pretty things (though some can be pricey, they...
Mens patterns, other than in cutting diagrams for tailors, are really hard to come by. Especially trousers and jackets.
Eva Dress has a few patterns for 1940s trousers, and perhaps if you did not want to try creating your own patterns from book diagrams you might be able to start with one of...
My guess is the first is 40s, second 30s (but the gents could probably date that for you better), third 1960s :)
What a great experience to be able to intern for a museum!
KittyAnneMalloo, congrats on the house! That kitchen is awesome!
Ditto Gracie Lee- the basic shapes were different between junior, misses, and womens. Kind of confusing since sometimes the numbers cross over, but the envelope should say which it was meant for. I think the juniors were also a bit shorter in the torso. The vintage books say the juniors is...
