I love the Fed IV!!
Mine is 4" in the front; 3 1/2" in back. I put a tugboat effect on it - it goes up to 4 1/2" at the very back of the side dents. -

Akubra Overload
Distlilled water in a small spray bottle. I wet the top first and bashed it. Then I wet the sides for the dents and did those. Lastly I wet the front of the brim, from the crown all the way to the tip, then pulled it down as far as I could. After that, I set it in a safe place and let it dry... -

I usually like a snap brim, and I thought of working with this one to bring the back up. I've decided against it, though. No reason for all my hats to look the same . . . Besides, this might give me an excuse to buy a moonstone Stylemaster.;) -

mine arrived today, too!
Interesting, I went with distilled water in a spray bottle, too. Steam didn't seem as controllable to me either. I also wondered how long the felt would stay pliable with steam. With water, I resprayed when it started to dry, which was only one area. I'd be interested what others think about... -

Yes, definitely. No. 73 - the milan teardrop is high-crowned without taper. Definitely has the classic fedora feel to it. -
