I know its not an OR, but, I went into Paris Hatters yesterday and saw the Roadmaster...gorgeous hat, but, wrong size! 100% natural beaver. If my head was bigger, it would have been mine!
yep--I'm going with "it depends on the hat!" Generally, center dent, C crown/teardrop, cattleman and telescope. I also like the Gus on other people's hats--not mine. I also like the diamond, but, I always seem to re-shape the diamond into a teardrop.
I had the same problem with the pictures on my phone; cleared up when I used the computer. The pictures at the top of the article are in order...for what its worth.
Palm leaf can be corse or fine. Generally, palm leaf hats are pretty thick. My real straw, Ecuadorean palm is pretty thin and would have made a great dress straw hat. Prices vary depending on how symmetrical (probably not the right word), tight and fine the weave is. I think Panama Bob's...
What kind of straw are you looking for? I have a nice Stetson 100x shantung, an Atwood palm, and a couple Sunbody palm. But, the only custom straw western I have was shaped by Texas Hatters in Lulling, Texas. The body is a hand woven Ecuadorean palm David had sitting around. The sweat band...
Picked up another Shasta in brown--more of a modern style (brick crown and a squared off taco brim). Also had a ribbon replace the felt band. Gotta tell you, the Shasta is not a bad hat. I'll try to get pictures of both the old and the new this weekend.
I have one of the Cornhill ones from a year or so ago--felt is thicker than my Borsolino and my vintage open roads but thinner than my Akubra. Overall, pretty nice with a nice hand. Moldable without steam and holds a crease well with a hit of steam.
I have a goatskin Indy jacket from US Wings--I absolutely love that jacket! It is two years old and has been worn in the woods and rain--still looks new.
