The 1954 A Star Is Born is arguably better than the 1937 version.
I personally think that Kenneth Branagh's Henry V (1989) is better than Laurence Olivier's 1944 version.
The Magnificent Seven (1960) is at least as good as Seven Samurai (1954)
The Thing (1982) is very different and as...
In 1997, Entertainment Weekly magazine named Bogart the number one movie legend of all time. In 1999, the American Film Institute ranked him the Greatest Male Star of All Time.
Doug
Well to be fair, Bogart wasn't doing bad in his late career with The Caine Mutiny(1954) making 330.70 million in 2011 dollars, Sabrina (1954) making 151.80 million, The African Queen (1951) making 144.70 million, Key Largo (1948) making 143.90 million.

Well to be fair, Pirates is and has been since it opened, the most popular ride in the park. The changes made to it were not to boost its popularity.
Other attractions like the The Bear Country Jamboree for example, was regularly playing to audiences of 5 or 6 people. Updating the show...
Gable's star making film was Red Dust in 1932. Gable was probably at his peak in 1939 with Gone With the Wind. However once the war started he joined the Army Air Corps, he didn't make another movie again until late 1945. The movie was called Adventure, and it was a bomb, damaging his reputation...
Yes the Red is being used to to shoot The Hobbit and Prometheus. The wonderful thing about digital, is that the film looks exactly the same in the 3rd week as it did on opening day.

Red Tails is photographed digitally. In fact about 15% of it was shot on the Canon 7D consumer digital SLR. But it looks beautiful. Very nicely photographed. As for the digital effects, I couldn't tell the difference between the real planes and the cgi. I saw it on a 45 foot screen with 2k...
Well I got to see the film, with 3 real Tuskegee airmen, and I must say that I really enjoyed it. Is it a great war film? No. Is it a dark "war is hell" movie? No. What it is, is an old fashioned kind of movie that they don't make much of anymore. Its the kind of war move that they used to make...
So far its getting an 81% fresh rating from Audiences on Rotten Tomatoes .
Also the reviews that I've seen didn't seem to get that this is not supposed to be the black Saving Private Ryan, but rather the black Flying Tigers.

I have very fond memories of the Carousel of Progress at Disneyland. To this day they have never found a good use for the building that used to house it. America Sings was okay, but really only good for about 1 or 2 viewings, then it lost its appeal.
I like the idea of a "Future Showcase" that...
Welles might very well have made changes to Kane had he been allowed too. Now if a studio executive had made changes that would be something different all together.
The fact of the matter is that Lucas was talking even in interviews in 1977 about how he was not happy with the film, and how it...
I'm not sure I buy the notion that World War 2 films don't make money....Saving Private Ryan made over $400 million....as did pearl harbor (I know it was a bad movie) and Band of Brothers had some of the highest ratings ever for an HBO mini series.
I actually think that Red Tails will do...
Well its not just fan boys, a movie doesn't make over $700 million dollars (Indy 4) by just fan boys going to see it. There just aren't that many of them. That film attracted the average film goer who enjoyed the other Indy films, and in most cases took their kids to see it more than once.
