Was it perhaps a toad? I have had frogs and toads living in my planter boxes this summer. Cool and wet, I guess they like it.
My fedora kept my head dry Saturday when an offshoot of Hurricane Isaac came thru.
Slightly off-topic, I bought a suit at Goodwill for a Halloween outfit and found a funeral card for someone who died 15 years before. I suppose that was the last time the suit was worn.
I was in NYC and Philly last week and fedoras were everywhere. Unfortunately they were the narrow brim $20 cheapies they sell on every street corner there. Mostly straw.
I did see a handful of quality fedoras and several were on ladies. Women apparently are not afraid to pay for quality...

I bought a beautiful vintage Selentino fedora from a lounger and found it had an elastic band which apparently is called a "wind string" (or I may have the nomenclature wrong). Being a newbie to all this I gather this is the sign of a well made hat. Any thoughts would be welcome.
