Hmm, a small band of people who have found each other from all over the world, gathered together after civilization has crumbled, still wearing some clothing from 50 years before that they managed to find? Sounds familiar for some reason.
Well, thank god we live in a time when alcoholics are seen as the sick that they are, so we can try to get on to the treatment they and their families need instead of shaming them, and sweeping it under the rug.
I wouldn't want to be a teacher showing up at a high school in a tie and 3 piece suit. It would take a lot of work to gain the studen't trust. And yes, you must hve some trust and rapport to expect to teach them much. here in Seattle, we are pretty casual. Many professionals wear nice jeans...
I see your point, but there is still an assumption that FLers way, or doing things the way they were done in the past is superior to the reason and way things are done now by "modern" people. If they don't like their lifestyle, they can change. if they do, I don't feel I have much to say against...
It has been my understanding that college girls have been wearing sweat pants to class for 20 years, and pajamas in the last 10, so I can't help but see this as an improvement.
Interesting thread. I would say that while there are those that say, "I have always done it this way" the fact that some of them put effort into seeking out certain artifacts, or put effort into using things, or even buying, making or mending clothing suggests that they are living in a way that...
It seems to me, the lovable town drunk of movie and tv fame, was a rather naively positive portrayal of what we would now consider a homeless bum, or a shameful alcoholic that nobody cares about or looked out for. this is not the same as a frat boy binge drinking. This is a chronic alcoholic...
Go on line or ask a goth how many types of goths there are. You will be there all day. I assure you, to young people, there ar just as many distinctions and subtle sartorial cues as to which group people belong. True, media may have become more pervasive, and styles may be more universal, but...
I agree. That is too much to take in. Even if you did the front, it would make them too baggy. The pants could be completely rebuilt, but that would be the price of a new pair almost. Isn't the jacket too big now too?
If the jacket still fits okay, maybe Magnoli could match the fabric and...
NIce look. The thin whip belt is a nce detail, and I am glad to see some 50s slip on loafers getting the appreciation they deserve. These days, i will only pick up a particularly good pair in the thrift store because they are a little too underappreciated. But for a good 50s look, they are...
Yes, waist 32. Thanks for the heads up. Wow, I previously posted it and had 121 views, and 17 watchers, and not a single person asked me to verify that. I suspect that most were all just watching it out of interest, not a real desire to buy.
Pretty sure it is 30s, tropical weight summer suit. Gorgeous. size 38 39 40, long. I offer a 10% discount to fl loungers. Just be suree and let me know if you win.
Fits 38 39, and I think it may have been taken in, so could likely be taken out a little, although this would cost a bit for...
There were several pairs of shoes, and if I were cleaning it out, I would likely have found more, plus probably belts etc. But I was not in a position (due to business reasons) to ask to go through or have any of the stuff, even though it all went to the dump. I would have loved to salvage the...
I have hand washed a jacket. Cam out okay after pressing, but never quite the same. Saturate it with a baking soda water solution. Repeat a few times if necessery. Works like a charm.
Looks great. I love the belted back, but it is really subtle too, so will not look too costumy. Also, like the simple color. Makes it really subtle. The shoes work great with the tie too.
would have one comment on the vest though, and also the brown one in your first ask andy thread. Back...
