Received my Dubow A-2 from Five Star. Per his reputation, Shawn was a gent to work with.
I specified 28 inches for back length, which is close to perfect. Maybe another half inch would be good, but I'm happy with it. The sleeves, however, need another inch at least. They look fine, but I feel...
Front Drop ->
So that is how much longer the front hem of a jacket is than the back hem? Probably a dumb question, just want to be sure.
If this is the case, would a jacket longer in the back have 'back drop?' (Or "Negative Front Drop?")
ps. I can't believe I'm still unclear on this.
He subsequently told me its under 1mm thick and available in 30 days.
Hmm. That's on the thin side. Might be cool for a warm weather A-2 but that makes me inclined to stick with the goat. Maybe for a second one. Thanks.
Oh man! I ordered the Dubow in goat recently, but really would have preferred HH. I sent Shawn a message to inquire if it's still possible. Maybe - I have no idea where my jacket is in production. Doesn't hurt to ask. We'll see.
That 2nd version is sweet! I think I prefer that russet on the first one, but the collar and sleeve tweaks bring out the jacket's personality.
Maybe I'll get one.
Looks like he goes from the top of the sleeve stitch straight down the flat front of the sleeve to the middle of the sleeve opening.
This was in an email from him when I inquired about his measurements. Incidentally, I'm getting ready to order his Dubow A-2; I'm going to send him the dull...
The reason for this is addressed somewhere in that thread, I can't look for it right now. It's definitely a function of the angle at which the arms are sewn on. I think for hard core A-2 enthusiasts it comes down to how accurately a particular contract is recreated. Broncos had famously square...
Excellent, thanks. I did see this link somewhere on here I believe. My conundrum is hold out for horsehide, or pull the trigger with goat. Since I've learned of this guy I'm extremely pumped. I was actually in the GW queue for a Dubow 27798 for a while, and then it turned out it wasn't the...
It's not on their website yet, but I reached out to Shawn and he confirmed that he does offer a Dubow A-2. I believe it's the 27798 (that's the one I inquired about and he didn't correct me). At present, he doesn't have horsehide. I asked when he thought he might; I haven't gotten a response...
