Five star black deerskin modified trucker came today (combination of iron heart type 3 with a aero type 3 collar that I still need to shape). It came without buttons so I placed black two pronged Japanese donut buttons to complete an all black trucker look. I said it before but this deerskin is just nice, so buttery soft and drapes very well. The silk rayon lining is also so nice against the skin. The zippered hand pockets with #5 black oxidized Ykk zips are nice it also has a nice looking pull. The deerskin lined hand pockets are also a nice touch to it. I was not sure with the design Changes I made but now that I have it, it's just another 5* win.

Wow! I already envision this jacket in Horween CXL burgundy. How is the movement of the jacket?

That's a nice leather and design to go for. 5* makes great truckers. I was going for that pointier tip on the front design, I should have sent them a better photo, the slightly curved back design is also nicer touch. Movement is no problem at all but it's maybe because it's a lightweight leather at 1mm.

Dude!!! Man I need that one. That is smokin’!!!

hope you get your new aero before you get a new five star haha thanks man. I'm really happy with how it turned out and how it fits.
I really wanted hand pockets but they always bulge out so I almost did away with them but I'm glad I had zippers placed. It's still a sleek profile and I still have hand pockets

Received my Dubow A-2 from Five Star. Per his reputation, Shawn was a gent to work with.

I specified 28 inches for back length, which is close to perfect. Maybe another half inch would be good, but I'm happy with it. The sleeves, however, need another inch at least. They look fine, but I feel that missing inch, and already know I'll be moving it on. (Most evident in the pic below where I look like I'm firing a blaster at the Stormtroopers running through the hatch.) The next one will be spot on.

I sent purple knits to Shawn to use for the jacket, but decided they were a bit too dark. Not quite the berry/ jam purple I was hoping for. So I went with his russet knits. They are more brown and less red than I pictured, but I like how they look against the leather.

Shawn's seal goatskin is very nice. Super grainy, lots of character. Some have said this goat may weather and show aging more than others. That would be cool.

I love the Dubow pattern. Very comfortable, very easy to wear. The only A-2 I have to compare it to is my Aero Bronco. That one is in Seal Vicenza, nicer leather, sure. But this one feels better on me. I think due to the wider armholes. Except for the sleeve length, which bugs me and obviously always will. But I know what I need now.

Thanks for looking. This one will be in the sale section soon, due to the slightly too short sleeves for me. But overall, I'm very pleased with it.

Edit: p.s. Uploading all the pictures is not cooperating. You might have to click on some of them.

Great jacket, great fit.
Good idea with the zipper on the pockets.
I‘m looking forward to my deerskin trucker.

Thanks man, this is so much better than the goatskin trucker that I used to have.
I hope I don't regret having the zippers but the zipper teeths aren't too scratchy so it's okay so far. I can't wait to see that too, that should be the first one in that tan/conic colorway.

Jin 431 that jacket looks superb and the fit on is nailed..congratulations.

Zippered side pockets isn’t a bad shout...will keep valuables safe when needed.

My Trucker drops Friday, still waiting on vintage brass buttons I ordered through Etsy to arrive..going black and brass but love your all black stealth look...

Isn't that what deerskin usually looks like... Pebbly and matte?

Yes, but the uniformity of the 5 star "deer" is weird to me.
Take a look at these pics i just took, the back left panel is similar to what you see on the 5 star, but even within that panel there is variation.
The pic you posted above shows variation too, all the "pebbles" are not the same size and shape.
The 5 star on the other hand is perfectly even, and all the "pebbles' are perfect even triangles.
The fact that it is 100% uniform is too good to be true, even Lost Worlds Deerskin isn't that perfectly grained!

Yeah, I dunno. When I zoom in on Jin's jacket I get the same feeling of the deeper, "porous" pebbling I associate with deerskin grain. Although it is very uniform in size and depth.

Agreed. It looks to me like printed leather. Actually, I'd be willing to bet on it. The grain looks artificial to me. No animal has perfect triangles on its skin, ones that are so evenly uniform in size and shape throughout the entire hide.

Deerskin is a very unique leather with great variation in texture and grain all over. You'll see grain as big as coins on one end of the jacket, shifting toward near goatskin-like texture toward the other.

Really not convinced that deerskin at all - And if it is, it's heavily processed one.

Even though deer are farmed, they are still much wilder than cows. And this shows in their hides that come with much more imperfections. Printing deerskin to hide these blemishes is quite common. So it might still be deer, but the printed version.
