My quest to find a Conmar Conmatic zipper for my vintage leather Irvin Foster jacket

SUCCESS!! My Conmar zipper arrived from Mash-Japan about 3 days after I placed the order last week. Zipper length is slightly larger than my current zipper on the jacket which is fine because my tailor will be able to shorten the zipper to the appropriate length. When my tailor first saw...

WOW.... that's an AMAZING-LOOKING jacket on you, Oliver!! Bahut Achaa jacket! (Hindi for very good jacket... that's about the extent of what I remember from my Hindi language class, haha!). :D I love the Talon zipper too... enjoy the jacket in good health, Oliver. :)

My quest to find a Conmar Conmatic zipper for my vintage leather Irvin Foster jacket

You're so right, my friend... I should have heeded your advice sooner... at that time I was focusing my efforts on finding a Conmatic zipper and not a regular Conmar zipper like the one Mash-Japan sells. I figured I could save money by purchasing a jacket with a Conmatic zipper but then after...

My vintage leather jacket and I are reunited after 14 years apart!!

SUCCESS! Storm cuffs are now off the jacket... God bless the person who invented the seam ripper... very easy for me to remove them myself. Jacket sleeves fit me so much better now. Conmar zipper from Mash-Japan is on its way to me now, and replacement red interior lining is also on the...

My quest to find a Conmar Conmatic zipper for my vintage leather Irvin Foster jacket

Thanks bro! Will go ahead now and send Mash-Japan the money via PayPal. :) Edit: Just sent the payment! Man, I should have been more observant... the drop down menu for currencies was right there in plain sight... blame it on my old age, haha! Now I wish I had paid sooner... the 6290 yen...

My quest to find a Conmar Conmatic zipper for my vintage leather Irvin Foster jacket

True. :) But I'm still confused about how exactly to do this PayPal transaction. Normally when I pay in PayPal I enter the U.S. dollar amount of the money I want to send. In this case since I want to send Japanese Yen, how do I go about doing this?

First time user of Pecard products... my Irvin jacket looks/feels MUCH better!!

Thanks Steve! Thanks again for your excellent advice for having me try this product instead of dyeing the jacket and losing the vintage patina and all. :)

My quest to find a Conmar Conmatic zipper for my vintage leather Irvin Foster jacket

Hey John! I wound up getting the confirmation email today with the payment I owe in Japanese Yen. I wonder... since I'm paying with PayPal does PayPal give the option in paying in Japanese Yen instead of American dollars? I could pay the equivalent dollar amount once I do the conversion but...

First time user of Pecard products... my Irvin jacket looks/feels MUCH better!!

First off a HUGE thank you to all of you who recommended that I not dye my vintage Irvin Foster leather jacket and instead just condition it using Pecard's Antique Leather dressing. Not only did it make the leather feel more supple and rejuvinated but it made all the "distressed" markings and...

My quest to find a Conmar Conmatic zipper for my vintage leather Irvin Foster jacket

Thanks John! :) I ordered the Conmar zipper from Mash-Japan yesterday. They sent me the email confirming my order but said that they'll send me another email within the next few days with my order total and item availability... I'm not sure why it takes so long to have this information...

Seal jerky horse -- what is it?

I always assumed that seal jerky horsehide is just regular horsehide but with a color that resembles the color of seal jerky.

My quest to find a Conmar Conmatic zipper for my vintage leather Irvin Foster jacket

Sadly my superglue idea for securing the zipper pin to the tape did not work, therefore I have now placed my order for a NOS Conmar Brass/Nickel zipper from Mash-Japan. Estimated total including shipping all came to 6290 Yen which is $67.80... much more than I wanted to spend on a replacement...

    Show us your suits

Beautiful suit and what a nice looking couple you both make! :) This is going to sound crazy but your woman bears a striking resemblance to my wife... very similar face, same lips and similar body build... I need to post up a picture, preferably with me in a suit too. :D

My quest to find a Conmar Conmatic zipper for my vintage leather Irvin Foster jacket

I lucked out... the seller who sold me the Conmatic zipper has graciously offered to take back the jacket and detached Conmatic zipper that's too small for my Irvin Foster jacket and refund my $25. There definitely are honest, decent people in this world. :) I'm trying something different...
