    Old gas stations

^^^ Where is that place? $15.95 a piece for a set of snow tires? I'm in.

So trivial, yet it really ticks you off.

In Gary you were fortunate to not find the bullet attached to a body.

    Vintage neon signs

Thrre was a structure in a nearby town like the Red Coach Grill. It was the place to be up into the 80's. There was a motel attached to it built in the same style. It was all demoed a few years ago and a new generic chain motel and restaurant building was the replacement. There is a special...

    Vintage roadside

The movie theater in the county seat town where I grew up was still selling assorted charms at least into the 1970's. They also sold sour Crowns which would give you a sore mouth before the movie ended.

    Things that make you smile

Having had many dogs in my life there is something I have noticed. The larger the dog, the more terrified they tend to be of storms, fireworks, etc. I have no explanation for this, but I've seen it repeatedly. I can't imagine what goes through their minds as they cower under the bed or in a...

    Shorts

I do not wear shorts except the ones I sleep in. My wife tried to get me to wear them when we were dating, and I did wear them a handful of times, but she finally conceded that it wasn't going to happen. I don't care what anybody else wears, but they just aren't for me.

The End of the Collector Mindset

The Eames aura has been stretched to the breaking point on eBay. Any object produced by anyone at any time during their lives is listed as "Eames era" by some sellers. It's ridiculous. The only term more overused is RARE!

In my lifetime there were two standalone donut shops in town. Both are long gone now, replaced by the grocery store bakeries, which are not even close to the same thing. A new Dunkin Donut store recently opened which shares its space with a Baskin Robbins ice cream store. I have not been to...

Forgotten Advertising Characters of the Era

I think those are modern. I've seen others and it's joking about cats making bad decisions, usually involving alcohol.

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

The McConnell Story. Alan Ladd is Joseph McConnell, a knothead in the Army who is always in trouble, but becomes a pilot and Korean War triple ace. June Allyson is his long suffering, perpetually waiting wife, so she reprises most of her well known roles here. The movie is watchable, but...

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

You can never be too careful. Guys like this were all over the place back then. Especially in B comedies.

    Vintage neon signs

I had to look at it a minute to make it out. Hopefully it is easier to see standing under the sign. Since it appears the same at the bottom I suspect the bun is red and the lighter slightly pink ends are the sausage sticking out of the ends of the bun.

Vintage Things That Have Disappeared In Your Lifetime?

My youngest son and I had this very discussion tonight. I see this as the greatest hindrance to ever making any meaningful progress in any area of disagreement. I don't know exactly when the seed was planted that if we don't agree on something than I am left no option except to hate you. This...

Bad Movie Descriptions of the Golden Era

This is the description for tonight's episode of Masterpiece from the PBS website. Things haven't improved much. "Tormented by demons, Claude goes to dry out in the country, where a terrible secret is unearthed. Paul attempts to bury the past by forcing his mentor to retire. Nina takes control...

So trivial, yet it really ticks you off.

Use of turn signals seems to be conditioned behavior. In some places nearly everybody does use them and non use marks you as an outsider or just an idiot, in other towns it seems that local autos have had the lever removed. It can't be that hundreds or thousands of people in close proximity have...
