Single $21.95. I've stayed in places for not much more than that.

I love shoebox Fords. That looks like a 1950 but it's hard to tell for sure with the hood up.

So trivial, yet it really ticks you off.

I work in a town of around 20,000, half of which are university students. Bicycle theft is rampant here though many are found abandoned across town from where they were stolen. Why walk if you can steal a bike I guess. Another thing we have a lot of is grocery cart theft. People push the buggy...

I was at the store this morning and found that Kraft has cut the number of cheese slices in a package from 24 to 22. With the same pre-printed price on the package. Now instead of a pound you get 14.7 ounces for the same price. I wonder how many strategy meetings it took to hammer that one out.

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

Agreed. I also enjoyed the TV series. Carroll O'Connor was as close to Steiger's appearance as anybody they could have found.

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

I have meant to watch Novitiate but haven't yet. I was raised Catholic, and remember the nuns before the wheels came off. I liked Melissa Leo as Detective Howard in Homicide: Life on the Street back in the 1980s. Thanks for the recommendation.

WTB: Looking For Fedora Lounge Bar Glasses

Might it be time for a reissue of these? Custom printed glassware is available for a not completely outrageous cost I think.

DEATHS ; Notable Passings; The Thread to Pay Last Respects

The veterans of the second world war are growing fewer at a rapidly increasing pace. It is incumbent upon us to remember them and share what they did with young people to insure that they do not fade into the dust of history. I am reminded of my own mortality when I think of these men being...

As goofy as we may think that haircut is, at least it doesn't include some shade of fluorescent/neon blue, red, purple or green.

I have noticed that those who wish for everyone to know about their homerun hope that no one remembers their being carried to third base.

As annoying as it is, take comfort in the knowledge that such things are not rare. You, my good man, are not alone. The problem seems to be that once that particular train leaves the station it is very difficult to jump off.

    Old gas stations

I was speaking of the peacetime military where you might be sent to Germany or wherever for an extended tour of duty. Several of my high school classmates had personal cars overseas. One fellow I knew had his 4 cylinder Chevy S10 pickup in Germany. He said it was fine around town, but rather...

    Disappearing Quonset Huts

There are still a few of the small ones around here, but most are gone. One of the companies that made them was fairly close to here and they made larger ones for machinery and grain storage long after Uncle Sam quit buying. Even those are becoming a rarer sight every year.

A friend of my mother's had a Metropolitan until I was about 10 years old. It was kind of bronze colored where that one is green. I thought it looked like a bathtub with a windshield back then, but I'd take one to drive to town for ice cream now.
